3rd degree tear

Hi there
I had a 3b tear 9 weeks ago. Have recovered ok in terms of pain but have bowel urgency in the morning and often can't quite get there...no major accidents but just a little bit late getting to the loo. Know that if I was away from the loo and needed to go then things could be much worse. Just looking for other people's experience and if there is hope for full recovery, whatever that may mean, if such urgency is still being experienced at 9 weeks pp.
Thanks in advance x

Hi

I am 13 weeks pp of 3rd degree tear. Your issues could well improve over time. It is still early days in terms of healing for you.

There is a support group on Facebook you can join with lots of women in the same position. It’s called Birth Tear Support

Hiya! The Birth Tear Support Facebook group is good.
Are you seeing a physiotherapist?
9 weeks is still very early but urgency after the first month must be checked. Go to your GP and ask to be referred if you're not going already.
There are many factors at play but to give some markers, if there's some nerve damage, the best chance of recovery is during the first 6 months. Also, the pelvic floor muscles can take a long time to strengthen (first improvement usually around 3 months, then around 6 months but you can still get improvement the whole of the first year and sometimes even beyond that).
Take care.

I had a 3B 17weeks ago and have urinary stress incontinence and slight faecal urgency. It is improving all the time.
I have bought an elvie pelvic floor trainer under recommendation but yet to use it
