Most boring live birth/induction thread ever!

I'm in Switzerland so things are clearly a bit different here. I came in on Monday lunchtime to start induction, it's now Thursday morning and I'm still only 3 cm dilated, bored and frustrated! I am having contractions although I can't feel them. It seems I still have plenty of Time for updates as nothing is happening fast here. Anyone else had the slowest induction ever?? On a good note DS is healthy and is more than happy where he is!

Why are they inducing? I suppose it's good they're not rushing things, even if it's boring/frustrating for you. With my first they wanted to speed things along so hooked me up to the drip, which was not fun....

Will they allow you to go outside for walks? There was a park outside my hospital which i walked all around, trying to get things going.

Inducing because I am full term and nearly 40, he was a result of IUI so they're not taking any chances. Between CTGs I can pretty much do what I want and there are some nice grounds here, typically it is now raining today but i'm going to pace the corridors and go up and down the stairs.

They are great here for aromatherapy etc so DH is currently massaging my bump with some cinnamon oil to try to get things moving. DS has been jumping around the last hour or so and has a slightly higher heart rate so they are starting to think about speeding things along but no decision on that yet.

Like you, everyone else I've spoken to has had super fast births after inductions so I think I need to manage my expectations better.

I took in about 10 long books for my induction, as I was expecting it to take ages, but it's just so hard to concentrate, I couldn't get into any of them. Ended up listening to music and my very relaxing hypnobirthing cd. Good luck OP and hope things start happening soon!

Greaterthanthesumoftheparts · 10/05/2018 17:47

Well my waters just broke so hopefully things might move along a bit now. Going to have some dinner and see how it goes!

That's great news! Fingers crossed it's not long to go now.

Just had another check and still only 3 cm dilated. Midwife has gone off to speak to the doctor to see if they can move me down to delivery to get some IV oxytocin. No major contractions so far but just starting to get going I think.

I think even the midwives now feel sympathy for my 3.5 days of waiting.

Good luck and I hope your little boy is soon in your arms.

Mamabear1475 · 10/05/2018 20:51

No contractions yet? I was 3cm when they broke my waters and two second later I was in agony. Yours must be taking it's time Grin all the best xx

Rachie1986 · 10/05/2018 20:52

Hope everything gets going, OP x

GummyGoddess · 10/05/2018 20:57

Don't focus on the dilation, you can suddenly dilate really quickly. It's just an indication of what is happening right now.

Greaterthanthesumoftheparts · 10/05/2018 21:47

We are now in the delivery suite with a nice big bath, they just bought a bed for DH and DM has a reclining stool just in case they can have a rest before things kick off. Mid wives are changing shift, CTG looks fine and then will start oxytocin.

We are all set! Not that I expect him to get much sleep!

How are you doing OP? Any news?

Bobbiepin · 11/05/2018 01:40

Good luc!

Bobbiepin · 11/05/2018 01:41

Oh dear, good luck

Downeyhouse · 11/05/2018 05:50

I hope the night has gone well and your baby is here (or nearly here).

Greaterthanthesumoftheparts · 12/05/2018 09:47

Sorry for the delay. All went well if rather quick after the oxytocin. Gummy was spot on about the dilation, from when I got the oxytocin I was fully dilated within 2.5 hours and then had 80 mins of pushing. A few stitches but nothing major. And here he is :-) feeding well, and is he quietest baby ever.... for now!

Welcome to the world little one.

FinnJuhl · 12/05/2018 12:10

Congratulations, he looks so lovely and well worth the wait!

Sounds like your oxytocin experience was nicer than mine, am glad it all went pretty smoothly.
