As it's my first child, people told me I have to have a normal birth as in on the hospital bed... but I've googled water birth for your first child and people have said I can.. I also seen it on one born every minute! Ive always wanted a water birth as I've always seen it as relaxing.

You can request a water birth and as long as you're not high-risk (and they have the facilities), they will try accommodate you.

If you are not high risk (consultant led for any reason) you can do what you want. I didn't have water birth though they offered, but did use the birth centre not labour ward and it was much less "hospital-y"

I had a water birth in hospital with my first. She was back to back and large but I had no issues. I really recommend a wb

If you can have one, I'd completely recommend it!

I would suggest speaking with your midwife rather than relying on 'people' telling you things!

If you are not high risk they probably will let you have a waterbirth if you want one! I know lots of people whove had waterbirths for first babies.

Just tell your midwife that is what you want if possible.
