When did you go into labour with second?

When did you go into labour with second and how did this compare with your first? If one is late, is the second usually late?

DS1 was early (not premature) 10 hour labour.

DD was days late, 3 hour labour.

DS2 was early (same amount of days as DS1) 12 hour labour.

mine were both exactly 2 weeks early and my labour onset followed the same pattern.

Almost identical - mucus plug, 24 hrs, waters broke when getting up after a lie down, 2 hrs, contractions, hospital...

With dc1 39+6, dc2 bang on due date and dc3 40+2.

Labour was 6hrs, 4hrs and 8hrs. To be fair dc3 was a 9lber and was toughest labour.

This is interesting!

I only had my first last year but after a 2 and a half day labour I'm interested to see what others have to say.
Quite often the pattern seems to be a longer first labour and much shorter second one. Maybe the body knows what it's doing second time round?

12hr first labour, 3hr second labour.

First was induced three weeks early. Second was a week late, spontaneous labour.

dd1 5days over - spontaneous labour 5 hour

dd2 16days over - induced labour 15 mins!

dd3 had waters broken on due date emergency (but was told it wouldn't of been long if I'd been left as had already dilated 3 without knowing) - 4 hours

DD1born day before due date.
DD2 born on due date.

DD was born at 39+5 spontaneous 5hr labour
DS was born 39+6 spontaneous 1hr labour

Dd born on due date, spontaneous 7 hr labour.
Ds born ten days late, spontaneous 2 hr Labour.
Both now teenagers and the above is a perfect reflection of their attitude to homework.....

DC1 - day after due date
DC2 - nearly 2 weeks late and had to be induced, he was way too comfortable in there
DC3 - one day before due date

placemarking! DD1 was a 4 hour labour... DS1 due in a few months!

DS1 was 3 days early, DS2 4 days late. Both labours all morning from waking til early afternoon both in hospital. Second birth so much better because we knew what we were doing and were helped to get on with it.

DS 4 days late and currently 40+5 with DD. Hate this waiting!

Ds1, 14 hrs and 1 day early. Ds1, 1.5 hrs and 1 day early again. First sign was waters going in a coffee shop! Born outside as didn't get to hospital quickly enough.

DD1, 39 weeks, 5 1/2 hours

DD2, 40w1, 1hr50

DD3, 40w2, 45 mins

DD4, 38 weeks, 45mins

DC1 was born at 39+2. I thought DC2 would probably come early too, but no - he arrived at 40+5. Funnily enough DC3 was the same as DC1, 39+2. All spontaneous labours that got progressively quicker & easier.

DC1 - induced at 40+13
DC2 - due date

Ooh this is interesting!! I was induced with DS the day before my due date, 12 hour labour. Currently 11 weeks pregnant with second!

DC1 went into labour at 40+6 and delivered an hour into 40+9.

DC2 went into labour an hour into 40+1 (and delivered 4 hours later)

DC1 40+6 27 hour labour
DC2 40+6 23 hour labour

Not much in it, really!

Both 10 days late. Well 2nd was induced so she may have been later...who knows!

Dd1 - started induction at 42 weeks, had her at 42+2. Fully expected to go overdue with dd2, but she was born spontaneously at 38+5!

Ds - 38 weeks - induced 48 hour labour

Dd - 38 weeks - spontaneous 6 hour labour

Epidurals were my best friend in both cases.

DC1 - 38+4 10 hours
DC2 - 38+2 12 hours

Both similar labours, contractions, waters, stronger contractions, baby came out 😊
