Hi peeps, I'm 40 wks +3. Last night for about 3 hours I had really bad period-like pains with lower back pain, it didn't come & go but was constant peaking for about an hour, then subsided to nothing. DH & I thought this is definitely it, we're going to be woken up in the night by more pains or my waters breaking, but alas, I sit here 12 hours later writing this & scratching my head, what was that all about???

It's the beginnings.

Now... is your bag packed? Have you remembered to put in snacks and drinks and straws?

Rest where you can, but keep doing normal things. Make sure you eat and drink today. You'll need your strength.

Do you think so MarsLady? I hope so.

Bag is packed, snacks and drinks at the ready

ooo flipping 'eck wish I hadn't clicked on this thread now..........last few nights I've had similar - not 'bad' period like pains - but still there all the same, coming and going for a couple of hours.........then gone when I wake up in the morning......biggest fear this time round (now DC3 is finally head down) is that I'd go into labour and not be certain until I was in agony (never gone into labour on my own before - and waters have always gone first).

Sorry - slight thread hi-jack then - good luck Snowi

Fannyannie Ive been having the same as you on and off for the past two weeks (im due in 9days) Its very frustrating and im also worried that ive got so used to having them that i wont take much notice when labour finally does start, leaving it too late to get dh home from work, kids packed off and me to hospital befor baby arrives (only just made it with ds2). Its probably very irrational and im sure i will know when the times come but i still cant help worry

Snowi Hope things kick off properly for you soon

lol Pebble - that's how I feel about it re DH and his work.......he could be anything up to 1hr+ drive away (and if happens on Friday this week about 2 1/2hrs drive away) - my Doula lives 1hr 15 minutes drive away..........I don't drive either !

Hello ladies, had my membranes swept by midwife yesterday. She said cervix is about 1cm dilated, but also wrote in notes something about -3, anyone know what this means??

Cant help you with that snowi but just wanted to say good luck, you may even be holding your LO as i type.

With ds2 i was 4-5cms dilated (and 8 days over which may have helped) when she did the sweep and went into labour 12hrs later so hopefully it will work pretty quickly for you too

maisym · 16/05/2007 23:16

sounds like you'll be having your baby soon! - best wishes xxx

Snowi · 17/05/2007 12:47

Hi gals, nothing yet, just sporadic lower-back pain. Getting impatient

-3 is proabbly in relation to the station of the baby, +5 being the head crowning

so baby is on its way down !
