So my wifes waters have broken earlier this morning. How long till your contractions started when your water broke?

Various but you should phone labour ward as if they haven't started in 24 hours they will want her in. With #2 my waters broke and my contractions started seconds later. With #1 my waters were broken for me after about 8 hours of contractions.

Mine took just over 12 hours to start from waters breaking. Like pp said you get a 24 hr time window before they need to intervene due to infection risk.
