Lower end pressure

Hiya, so my wife is 38 weeks tomorrow. And she is saying she has sharp pain and allot of pressure down in the pelvic area every now and then, i know that this may be possible as our little ones seems to be engaged now. But she says the pressure feels like the baby is trying to find her way out down there. (Sorry for description) but has anyone got any ideas why this is? Is it nearly labour time or is this normal? Thanks.

Has the midwife written in her notes how far baby's head is engaged? It gets more and more uncomfortable the more engaged they are and does feel like the baby is making a break for it.

Well last week the midwife said 1/5 engaged so i assume she is about there now.

Sounds normal - the sharp pains are commonly known as fanny daggers!
