Waters breaking

Hi all, is there any signs of waters breaking or what was your experience did you know when they were about to? Or was it completely random?

Random. I just felt and heard a small 'pop' when I went for a wee. Then it came out in a bit of a constant trickle. No gushing.

Aprilmightbemynewname · 17/04/2018 22:21

I was fast asleep and 'heard' a pop. Thought I had wet the bed. Knocked at the neighbours to use their phone and the drunk dh grabbed a mop and bucket and offered to come clean up!!
Ds was born less than 3 hours later!!

12PurpleSnails · 17/04/2018 22:23

I lost my mucus plug (sorry TMI) in the morning and my waters went that evening.

Random

DramaAlpaca · 17/04/2018 22:29

All three times mine broke as I was pushing out the baby.

SingingSands · 17/04/2018 22:32

Mine went with a massive gush all over the floor, which splashed up and covered me from head to toe. I was dripping and had to strip off and change into a hospital gown.

I thought that only happened on tv!!

NoNoCharlieRascal · 17/04/2018 22:35

Huge gush here too. No warning. And bloody dramatic. Fortunately it was on my doorstep and I was able to run inside and sort myself out. Still half wish it was in some posho shop Grin

katienana · 17/04/2018 22:38

I was in bed and felt a bit damp. I got up to go the loo, when I sat down on the toilet there was a pop and a huge gush followed by a massive contraction.

HollysWilloboobies · 17/04/2018 22:38

Didn't happen until about 4 hours after contractions started for me! By then I was high as a kite and wouldn't have known had the midwife not told me!

laelti · 17/04/2018 22:57

I don't even know when mine broke!
Presumably during the 2 hours I spent in the birthing pool as no one ever saw them.

LastOneDancing · 17/04/2018 23:01

No warning - there was a huge popping sensation (which my mum said she heard) and an enormous gush of pink water about 40 minutes after a sweep. I had hyperemisis so it was epic.

I was in a Costa coffee at the time.

I did not get any free coffee and I may well have ruined a few handbags Blush Mortified.

Popskipiekin · 17/04/2018 23:02

Mine went in Sainsbury’s Grin zero warning (tho I was over 40 weeks). I heaved a bag of shopping onto my shoulder and suddenly felt this pressure and then a gush. I was hoping for a lifetime discount but no such luck sadly.

Apricots17 · 17/04/2018 23:12

Mine had to be broken hours after my epidural. My boy didn't want to come out!

annlee3817 · 17/04/2018 23:21

Mine started with little gushes, contractions started 30 mins later and two hours after the contractions started they went properly with a big contraction and an almighty gush, hit the bed at the hospital and then whooshed onto the floor. I still thought I'd just wet myself though Blush

WineAndTiramisu · 18/04/2018 11:44

Mine went in the middle of the night (39+5) whilst on the toilet, had a wee, then wiped, then a gush that kept coming every time I moved!

Used lots of the maternity pads overnight as it just kept coming

InDubiousBattle · 18/04/2018 11:46

Started as a trickle then a big gush whilst I was on the phone to labour ward. Threw our rug away!

OneForTheRoadThen · 18/04/2018 11:47

I was lying in bed and felt a gush. Mine were epic - actual huge puddles on the floor and went through several towels. Thank his I wasn't in public.

Lmj25 · 18/04/2018 12:38

Mine went when I was pushing midwives wanted to pop them but I wouldn't let them 😬

Parney · 18/04/2018 15:23

With DS I heard a pop and an immediate gush. Nothing crazy but more of a constant trickle! I’d lost the plug 12 hours previous.

With DD I’d been having contractions for a few hours and was on the labour ward when I asked to use the loo, and there was a massive gush as I sat down!

DappledThings · 18/04/2018 19:47

No idea first time, must gave been once I was well into labour. Second time I woke up one morning feeling a bit damp and there was a gush when I stood up.

ificouldwritealettertome · 18/04/2018 19:48

Got up for a wee in the night (as usual) and they leaked out everywhere.

Muse84 · 18/04/2018 22:22

Pop and dramatic gush all over hospital floor (and my clothes!) the feeling of it bulging down before it popped was the weirdest sensation (obviously that's before I had felt a baby's head crowning....Grin)

Papillion86 · 19/04/2018 22:27

I was in having steroid injections for a planned csection the following week due to breech baby. About 1.30 I rolled over and thought I'd wet myself (I'd been drinking loads of water as it was so hot on the Ward), when the midwife came round I told her I couldn't control my bladder 😂 she and the doctor promptly told me I'd me having an emergency csection due to my waters going....all very dramatic
