Genital warts - HELP!

Name change. Did post else where but don't think I'll get any responses :(

Anyway I'm 40+2 and noticed about a week ago some weird skin tag things on my genital area. After a bit more research I now know they are genital warts. I'm mortified. I want to slice them all off with nail clippers to be honest. (Obviously NOT going to do that) I just feel disgusting. dreading giving birth and some poor midwife having to see my disgusting vagina :( have spent most of the last few days just crying about this tbh. It's totally consuming me

It may not be them.

Midwives will see all sorts of stuff down there. Don’t worry or let it take anything away from having your lovely baby.

Genital warts are pretty easy to sort - you can go to the GUM clinic after the birth and get them sorted.

You need a doctor, not Mumsnet.

You need to ring your midwife as they can be dangerous to new borns.

Yes I have seen a doctor who told me they could clear up within a couple of months of baby being born and that's about it really :(

No- they don't affect your baby. The doctor told me this and I've also spent hours looking it up myself because I was shitting myself about that. You're thinking about herpes -which is completely different. But thanks for trying to give us a scare 👍

I’m a midwife. Your vagina isn’t disgusting and no midwife would think that. It’s warts, you could get a wart on your finger and not think anything of it. Honestly don’t worry about it.

Make sure you keep up to date with smear tests down the line and good luck for the birth.
