Cord still on two weeks on

I was advised with dd not to bath her until cord had come off. (This has changed since I had my sons.) Cord does not look likely to come off just yet which is not a problem but am desperate to bath her. Have been top and tailing but now two weeks on feel she needs a bath. What advice were you given in hospital?

I bathed mine before the cord was off.
It is prob best to avoid bubble bath etc.

A little soak might help it come off anyway!

Fine to bathe and infact the area needs cleaning daily anyway, so you will do it good! Just plain water, which is all babies need anyway.

I bathed dd regularly from day one, did it in the hospital with midwives too. Her cord came off at 3 weeks.

We bathed dd every few days from about day 3. We were getting a bit worried about her cord - it started looking a bit gooey - so we took her to the doctors at 2 weeks and it had dropped off by the time we had walked round the corner to the surgery!!
Like the others have said, plain water will do it good anyway.

My MW walked in, wiped the cord stump off with surgical spirit in one go, and there was me protecting it. However I am with you on the not bathing bit because I bathed DS every day using Johnsons and he has eczema, she is nearly 4 months and not a bit of eczema. If you have a good Midwife I would ask their advice.
