Weeing after c-section

I had a csection yesterday afternoon.
They took the catheter out 4 hours ago, I've drank about a litre of water and I can't go to the toilet, even a tiny bit.
I don't want to tell the midwife as I don't want them to put the catheter back. I had a csection 6 years ago and didn't have this problem.

Anyone had this issue and know what I could do to make me go?

get in the shower! i was the same, i had to hobble to the shower and just stand there, after about 5 mins my bladder finally relaxed enough and out came the wee, i then stepped forward to catch it in the jug thing they give you to prove you've had a wee. My hospital wouldn't release you until 3 weeks had been done.

Also get some c-section knickers tescos or john lewis sell them, god send!

For goodness sake tell the staff before your bladder potentially overstretches or ruptures!
It’s probably just an after effect of either the spinal anaesthetic, or opiate medication given either intrathecally (mixed with the spinal anaesthetic), or systemically (morphine tabs or injections).
It will eventually return to normal service, but it’s vital you decompress the bladder in the meantime. Tell someone NOW!

I had to bend over and almost squeeze it out the first few times as I couldn't push. After that it was fine

Please tell the midwife for goodness sake. Us people on the internet can’t do much from here.

Hi, please tell a midwife. Having a catheter reinserted isn't nice but neither is your bladder being stretched beyond repair and you having to self catheterise EVERY time you go to the toilet in future. Your bladder is a muscle that, once overstretched, will not repair itself. I'm saying this as a midwife who is obsessed with other people's bladders after seeing how bad bladder care can affect someone forever. Tell your midwife now.

Thank you for your replies. I listened and told the midwife. She said to wait until 12 to do anything, and I have managed to go thankfully. I think I was too stressed to relax my bladder muscles properly when I was trying before

Just pre-empting the next hurdle (sorry if TMI!) but when you need a bowel movement, press a cushion against your stomach - really alleviated my fears that I was going to push my insides out of my scar!

Also hope everything's going well recovery wise.

I think that the bruising / inflammation/ nerve damage all mean that you find it hard to both know when to go and how to relax the muscles so you can go. Go often and sit for long enough that things can happen.
