What’s an NHS labour suit? Is this something you wear to give birth in? Or do you mean NHS labour suite?

Generally, unless you can afford private health care (which is not cheap in the uk), you will give birth in an NHS hospital. So there’s not much to make your mind up about. Depending on where you live you might be able to pick your hospital, or decide if you give birth in a midwife led unit, or the labour ward. You may even be able to choose a home birth.

Is there a specific aspect of the NHS care process that you’d like advice on?

HolyGoats · 18/03/2018 20:41

Do you just mean nhs labour? I didn’t wear a suit. I think it varies hugely as to where you are in the country. Do you know which hospital you’d be going to?

abbsisspartacus · 18/03/2018 20:44

Suite?

BackforGood · 18/03/2018 20:58

Presuming you are talking about your options for giving birth ? It is going to depend totally on what is available near you. One hospital can be very different from another even within the same City. If you factor in the differences in Geography and then different options such as midwife led units available in some places and not others, you will have to be a bit more specific. Maybe tell us which county you are in and people can let you know about what is available there?

@jadebryce Varies tremendously between trusts. Which hospitals are you considering?

mummyto1girl · 18/03/2018 22:51

Yeah sorry I mean suite Confused

mummyto1girl · 18/03/2018 22:51

It would be ninewells in Dundee

Shaunieh95 · 18/03/2018 22:54

If you download the bounty app if you have iPhone there's a part where you select your hospital, they have every leaflet they can give you all online on there! There will be one for your local delivery unit SmileSmile

This is a screenshot of the one from my hospital, it's 20 detailed pages long.

Give it a try!

Thank you

Here in Newcastle we have a birthing centre at one of the hospitals which is midwife led and has birthing pools etc. That sort of thing is supposed to be really good unless you are at risk and would need doctors x

Wellonlyifihaveto · 19/03/2018 10:36

There is a YouTube video of the labour suite at nine wells 🙂

WhiteRabbitWhiteRabbit · 19/03/2018 10:38

Most hospitals give tours of their labour suites and birthing centres. Call up and see if you can book on.

whampiece · 19/03/2018 10:46

Ninewells has 2. Well sort of. There is the regular labour ward and they also have a midwife led unit.

You will need to speak to your community midwife for more information. Depending on your pregnancy you may not be able to go to the midwife unit - any high risk have to go through the consultant led regular labour ward.

Both are very good.

OP - are you also 'Mummyto1girl' ? - confusing when you name change from your OP
