Is it a false alarm?

Im overdue by 8 days with my first baby and had a sweep at 10am yesterday. I've been having regular-ish contractions since 9am this morning which have been getting worse (slowly) and have just started losing my plug. I don't really know what to expect and I don't want to get my hopes up incase it's false labour or the pains stop. Am I in true labour yet? Can I start to get excited?

How exciting

Labour can last for days so as long as you have no concerns (water not broken and baby moving as normal etc) then I would try and convince that you are not in labour and that your body is just getting ready to be in labour.

Midwives say you are not in labour until you are 4cm dilated.

I would totally say you have started.
