Fentons Procedure

Hi, after a episiotomy & forceps delivery in September i am still suffering from pain, it is manageable but intercourse is not possible. I was referred to gyno and they have recommended i have a Fentons procedure to remove the granulation and scar tissue. The Gyno did discuss perineum massage but the extent of my scar tissue means that the operation is the only hope i have of being pain free. After a terrible recovery from the birth i am absolutely terrified, and guess i am looking for positive stories from other ladies that have been in the same situation that have had a fentons procedure. Hope someone can help me feel more positive. thanks

Hi annieos18, positive story here. Also had forceps and difficult rehabilitation. The entrance of my vagina was too tight because of scar tissue. Massaging did help but unfortunately not enough. Skin would split during intercourse and bleed.
I had a Fenton procedure 18 months after birth and everything's fine now. I planned lots of help because I thought it would be similar to my postpartum but it was much easier. It is a bit painful for a few days and a bit uncomfortable after that for a little while but I think after 2 weeks it was pain free and I felt fine.
It did shift everything a little at first. My episiotomy became tight again (pulling my buttock) when I hadn't felt it since after giving birth. I saw the physio again and massaged for a few weeks and it all came back into place. Smile

thank you so much, this is exactly what I needed to hear! I never once imagined recovery post birth would be so difficult, this has made me feel more optimistic about the procedureSmile

It is nothing like after giving birth; you're not all bruised and itheals well. Bonking was great after!
