A question about the NCT

I am not sure I have posted this in the right place but I am interested in learning more about the NCT and how it is structured? I took a class in Fulham a few years ago and I am wondering if my instructor was 'owns' her class or if she is just assigned classes by the mothership, as it were. Sorry - I realize this is slightly random but if anyone has any information, I would so appreciate it. Thanks!

It depends how many a few is - classes used to be organised by local branches, and now it's a bit more bureauocratic.
But instructors kind-of offer to take classes based on a list that is sent to all local practitioners.
Some areas only have a few instructors, or in some cases groups will communicate with one another to ensure everyone can teach.

Info could be a bit out of date but basically no she doesn't own her class - she's self-employed, but yes she can have a say in whether she wants a class in a particular area.

Thanks for this! So the NCT still controls everything centrally, then? I was wondering there was any type of franchising relationship with chapters or teachers.

The practitioners are employed by the head office. Branches at local level do local fundraisers for their area and its split 30-70 in favour of head office. But antenatal is all money goes to head office.

No it's not franchising.

I was a bfc rather than an ANT though and from memory there used to be 2 classes of ANT. Central then regional then branch. And Scotland and Northern Ireland were the same region.

Our class had one teacher then another took over from the second week due to a family issue for the first. There are regional coordinators employed by the charity who do the bookings of teachers and venues.
