remifentanil.. In labour? Any experience

So did my birthing plan with mw today. I never asked for a elcs, despite my previous thread. And my anxieties
As she was so good and went through everything with me.
Now with my DS I had epidural. But my fear of this is a. Having to stay in overnight (I know that could happen for other reasons but I feel if I personally can eliminate one then that choice is out of my hands.)
And b. When I last had a catheter I couldn't wee after so had to be out back in to let my bladder recover as it was traumatised from an op.. And I was told this could be likely again after a catheter
So...
She mentioned remifentanil she made it sound so good. But I've not heard of it. So would love to hear people's experiences?

I know I'll be on the Labour ward due to other reasons.. Mainly I'm high risk of dvt and struggling with iron levels despite spatone, liquid iron. Tablets and an iron transfusion it's still dropping and they won't let me on MWLU with it that low.
So I know this drug could be used in the labour ward.

Probably not helpful but you've just reminded me I had trouble weeing after giving birth - didn't last long obviously as I had forgotten but it was such an unpleasant feeling. didn't have an epidural though so wonder what was going on there. A good few hours after birth I passed a big clot/bit of placenta so not sure if that can make weeing difficult.

The prob I had was after a different op.y bladder filled to two litres so had to be emptied via a catheter Again. Hated it as juts wanted to go home. Lol

Oh that's good to hear its great.. How effective is it? X

It's like a walking epidural basically and you get a button that you press to release it. It sounds heavenly tbh

@IsItSummerYet2018 funnily enough I saw your other thread and thought remi fent was the answer to your prayers but didn't post as assumed you had been told already or something. It is exactly what I think would work for you and your needs, plus your completely mobile.

Had some with my first baby, you hit the button as contractions start it gives you a hit you are totally out of it for a minute or so like away with the fairies then contractions ease off and remi wears off and you feel fine again I was chatting happily to MW in between shots

Personally I totally recommend it , no way i would have a epidural though , way to feart for that.

Aww thank you so much for replying. Made me feel so much more at ease.
This is definitely on my plan. Actually feeling a bit more relaxed about it all now..
Just a waiting game now.. X
