Birth pool rental/purchase - experiences

Planning a homebirth and definitely want a pool - I loved the water last time. Any experiences with renting or buying? Did buying and selling on actually end up being cheaper?

I'm probably most likely to go for a Birth Pool in a Box set, but open to other recs.

Buying and selling on will almost certainly be cheaper than hiring from one of the main hire companies. Just make sure you use a liner as people will want to know that when they're looking to buy.

You may also want to look and see what local hire options are available. We have a home birth team and a local pool hire scheme. The pool is free, you just have to buy a new liner. So that works out significantly cheaper than other hire companies or buying and selling on.

We borrowed a pool from a friend and ordered a replacement kit from Birth Pool in a box which had everything necessary in it. It was very good, would use them again if I were ever loony enough to consider more children.

Ooh, thanks. In my area they basically don't discuss place of birth at all until the 34 week appointment so I'm not under the home birth team as yet. I guess I should hang on until then and see if they have any pool access schemes or agreements of their own. I do know to use a liner.
