Birth Pool in a Box Question

I have just bought an unused Birth Pool in a Box from ebay. The thing is it doesn't have one of the disposable liners as the lady that had it before did a trial run and threw it away. On the website the liners are £20, which seems like a lot to me for a bit of plastic! Does anyone know if I need to get one or whether I could just sterilise it with Dettol or Milton before I use it?

Oooo good idea! I quite like the thought of sitting in a warm pool in my living room watching tv!

Thanks for that, Ecover is a good idea as it is friendly for skin! I suppose those Milton wipes would do the job just as well as tablets. I could wipe it with them and then clean it with Ecover.

Personally, I think the liner is worth it. Or rather DH and my mum do because when they emptied the pool whilst I was upstairs being stitched, they could bundle up the yucky stuff and shove the whole lot in a bin liner.

I believe Mr Inferior is pro-liner for the same reason

The best reason I can think of for getting a liner is that you might well want to put some kind of support in the pool (some big cushions)to lean on. If you have a liner in the pool you can put the cushions underneath. This has the added advantage of reducing the amount of water it takes to fill the pool so you can do that faster.

I did not think that a liner was necessary but used it anyway as it came with the pool. I was very pleased that we had used the liner as all the clots and other yukkys could be chucked in the bin at the end. Plan to do the same next time and then will use it as a paddling pool once I have finished using it for having babies!

yep my dh definitely thinks the liner was worth it for clearing up!
