Hey all... so I am currently 5 days overdue with my third baby. My first was 6 days over and my second 8, so I am not panicking yet... but am a little concerned. I have been having tightenings/contractions on and off for the last two weeks but everything I have read says third labours can be unusual, very stop start etc.
Today I had a sweep - 2cm and cervix 0.5cm so I am close, the sweep worked with number 2.
Induction has been planned for Monday as I wanted an end in my mind but I am a little worried about this. Anyone have any positive induction experiences for third babies? I know it’s quite unusual to be induced for number 3 and I know it may not even come to it, but it’s at the back of my mind and I am a real planner (as much as you can plan with childbirth!!). Midwife thinks they would go straight for water breaking and avoid pessaries, then the drip if needed!
First birth was quite straightforward although struggled to push (3+ hours) and was close to c section, second again I struggled with pushing as baby was 9lb and stuck (started as home birth so was pushing for well over 3 hours). Second ended up with vontouse but I felt so normal afterwards.
The contractions with number one were so bearable, they never became that bad until
the very end, I have quite a high pain tolerance. With number two they were horrendous and I struggled to cope so naturally I am worried about the pain this time. Has anyone had an induction without pain relief? I am thinking about epidural mainly but I am scared about it as I know that often leads to instrumental deliveries and I would truly hate forceps. Will I be able to hack it without epidural though? Not being able to feel my legs scares me too. Am I over thinking?
Hopefully all this will be for nothing but I would still really love to hear from anybody who has been in this situation.
