Waters broken... are these contractions??

Hi all, my waters went at 7.30 this morning after a few niggles yesterday and period type back pain in the night.
Started having on and off period type cramps about an hour after my waters went.
Midwife confirmed it was my waters at 10.30 this morning and did a stretch and sweep to try and get things moving! I was already 2cms and she stretched me to 3cms!
I'm now having what I would call intense period pains in my lower back and around lower bump about every 6-10 mins, and they last about 30-50 seconds each.
They're definitely getting stronger too!
Are these contractions? It's my first baby's so I'm not sure what to look for and I just wonder because they don't feel like the classic 'tightenings'...
Thanks!

Sounds like contractions to me! Good luck :)

They sound like it to me when has your midwife told you to call in?
Keep upright and walking and if you stand still moving your hips in a circle can help too.
Good luck Grin

Thanks guys! 😬 this is it then!!
I've been told to call in when they are every 5mins or very strong, long and regular slightly further apart.
I'll keep timing!

Hoping rain stops for you soon.
Quick tip when it gets to pushing stage if you can get on your knees it's so much easier and pushing stage seems to be quicker.Smile
