Bad tears first time, plans for second labour

I had 3 2nd degree tears with my first DC which required surgery to suture due to depth (sorry if TMI) one of which was almost a 3rd degree tear. I also have a mild prolapse 8mths later.
I'm not pregnant with my 2nd DC and am really worried about the risk of tears and more severe prolapses so am considering elective CS but think recovery with a newborn and a 15mth old would be too difficult.
What's everyone else's experiences with 2nd labours when you've had tearing first time round?
