If an induction doesn't work how long do they wait?

Just panicking about being overdue as had a bad time of it after induction before. I'm 40 +1 so time yet but wondering when is the latest the baby will be here?
If they induce at 42 weeks (will they as my due date is a Saturday? They may wait till the Monday so 42+2?? ) then how many days are generally accepted before a c section?
Feeling a bit hysterical about the whole thing as I have been having treatment for anxiety about the birth and it feels like my fears are being confirmed as I've not yet had the baby- I know this isn't rational and am working on it.

From the start of the induction process to it not getting you into a labour and having a decision made about a c/s, it's usually around 3 days. However, this isn't set in stone and can vary depending on circumstances.

Thank you,seeing her this week ( for a first sweep..!) But she referred me early on for help with the anxiety it just seems to have ramped up again now I'm actually overdue. Hurry up baby come out!

DC1 was induced at 39+2 then delivered by EMCS at 40+0 when I refused to let them keep trying. The best advice I had afterwards is that you're allowed to say no at any stage - don't feel you have to go along with things. I just wish I'd known that beforehand. Good luck

I can understand the anxiety - had it too and to be honest I had the exact birth I was so worried about. Induced at 41 +4 and baby born at 42 +1.. didn’t end up in c section but 4 induction attempts and a 5 night stay in hospital, before ventouse cups and episiotomy. I narrowly avoided a c section. Now I’ve gone through it, I can understand my fear but I would have told myself not to worry so much. I’m sure this is not helpful as anxiety isn’t rational but honestly, the induction although not ideal was not as bad as I had built it up to be and I was well looked after. You’ll be in the best place and when your baby is here it would have been worth it. Good luck x

It probably depends how busy they are. I was told they would induce 12 days overdue, the 12th day overdue was a busy day at the hospital so they decided to induce me 10 days over. I don’t think they like inducing at 2 weeks over as it can take a day or two so more likely to do it at 12 days over.

I was induced, 36 hours went past and I ended up having a section. Induction can take a day or two but I had a section because of a few probs else they would of waited longer. DS was 12 days late!

JKC that is kind of reassuring to think hopefully they won't want to start the induction on the Monday then which would be at 16 days over.

I was told they wouldn’t let me go 24hrs after having my waters broken.

For me I was induced at 8am and my LO was born at 3pm the following day. The drip helped to get things going for me.

Ok so been told no chance of induction before 42 weeks. Seriously unhappy with going over 41 weeks and wondering what is my best chance- my labours have been 2-3 days so if they induce at 42 weeks I'm likely to be 16 days over by the time the baby arrives is that not normal? Also worried as I know how pushed they are space wise so could get cancelled. Are they likely to let me go more than 14 days over? Completely panicked by the whole thing.
