How is the placenta removed during a CSection?

This might be a stupid question but how is the placenta removed during a CSection?
Do they give you the drugs used during a managed third stage or do they use pulling/cutting to detach it from the uterus?

I had an emergency section with my dtwins and remember them showing me how the placentas had fused together into 1, but I don't recall anyone ever discussing the removal of it with me. There was a lot going on so maybe I've forgotten but I'm suddenly very curious!

I've had two sections and I have never even thought about it! I assumed they kind of just lifted it out, like the baby??

That's what I had assumed but when I sat down and thought about it - I just don't know if they can just lift out! I'm so confused

As soon as the baby comes out you are given the same medication as per a normal birth (syntocinon) but through your drip rather than an injection into your leg. Then after about 30 seconds we pull on the cord to bring the placenta out of the womb, or put a hand inside the womb to separate it off and bring it out.

I'm almost certain that they just give you the same injection as they do if you have a vaginally birth, then they can remove the placenta quickly once it takes effect and the placenta detaches itself. I have a clear memory of the midwife who was present telling me that they were just going to give me the injection in my thigh and it may make me feel a bit funny for a few seconds (it didn't) . That was a minute or so after they'd got DS2 out and checked him over. DS was given the vitamin K at the same time.

I can't remember being told this when I had DS1 but that was an emergency and involved a lot more medical staff flapping around trying to save us.
