Going into labour

I know about the usual signs like waters breaking, the show, contractions etc. But I have this huge fear that I won't have the normal signs and by the time I realise that I'm in labour, I won't be able to get to the hospital on time (40 mins on a good day at quiet time)
I have anxiety which is worse since pregnancy and I thought the closer i got to giving birth the easier it would because I've hated being pregnant and can't wait to meet the baby, but I feel on the verge of a panic attack constantly since yesterday and I've had 4. (37 weeks yesterday) I've tried my breathing techniques which work for about 5 minutes then I'm back to heart racing feeling sick and out of breath etc.
I just want to know people's labour experiences please?
Giving me something to read might help calm me down (I can't sit still otherwise) thank you x

Awww! Seriously, try not to stress. It will all work out one way or another :-).

With dc1 my water did not break, no mucus plus etc until I was in hospital. I just woke up to at 3am one morning with contractions which started of at like 25 mins apart i think and then when they got to 4 mins apart at 8pm the same day, I went in to hosp and it progressed from there real quick - I had him at 1.30am the following day.

I'm currently 38+2 with dc2 and seriously I'm thinking exactly the same as you. In reality how ever it happens, one way or another we'll be holding our babys soon! Smile

And I used to suffer from anxeity too and it does come back a little at times but I'm learning to fight it!.. so I do understand.. but you just need to remember that if things go wrong or not to plan, it's not end of world - eventually everything will be ok again. Try to think about the positives! Xx
