Is this labour??

Forgive me, my last baby was born 12 years ago so I can't really remember how it all felt when it kicked off.

I've been having fairly regular BH for a couple weeks, always across the top of bump so I knew they weren't real contractions. For the last four hours I'm having the WORST contractions and this time they're very low, not making the top of bump hard at all. But the pain, omg, I feel like my back is ripping open with each one. I can't breathe or talk through them. Only thing is they're very inconsistent and quite far apart. I've attached a screenshot of my last few timings. I only started timing 90 minutes ago.

I'm inclined to think it's false labour... but the PAIN, oh my god, it makes what I thought were very intense BH feel like a complete walk in the park.

Does anyone think this might be the start of something? Or are they too inconsistent/far apart? I'm 41+2 and had no show or waters.

That is how mine started. Baby could well be wanting to make an appearance. Good luck!

It sounds like your baby is back to back (back pain), the contractions arn't what the hospital would consider 'proper labour' with the timing or length but it seems like your body is trying to get going properly but babys position is slowing it down. That being said, my last one arrived after contractions no closer than 5 mins apart so not every labour follows the usual pattern. Check out the spinning babies website for ways to help baby to turn. Good luck!

Thanks guys. Not much change in the timings. A little closer together, with the duration sticking around the 1 min mark. But I feel like some consistency is emerging and the intensity is no less...well, intense. So I've got my childcare in order just in case and I'm gonna think about getting myself sorted to leave the house at some point this morning. Fingers bloody crossed! I had induction booked for tomorrow but I'm VBAC so was trying to avoid it at all costs.
