C sections

If you had a c section with your first, how long did you wait to have a 2nd dc? I was told at the time to wait 3 years to let my stomach heal 😳 Does anyone actually wait this long? And did you have to have another c section?

I had an emergency section with separated stomach muscles and lots of physiotherapy. I was told to not even think of falling pregnant for at least 2 years at the time. My little one has just turned two, we are still waiting until he turns three simply because of the cost of childcare.

My sister in law also had a section with her first and is currently pregnant with her second, Her first will turn three as she is having her second. My sister in law was told to wait at least 1 year.

A lady i vaguely know from play ground had two sections within 18 months of each other.

I think different surgeons will give varying time frames based upon your circumstances and their personal opinion.

I was told that they would prefer me to wait 2 years. I’m recommended to have a c section if I have any further children due to my incision type but I think it depends on the individual

Luckingfovely · 01/01/2018 13:42

Two sections just under two years apart. No problems at all.

Luckingfovely · 01/01/2018 13:43

And - first section was an emergency, second planned and was a doddle.

Thank you. Ds is only 4 months, so not thinking about it just yet! Just curious to know others experiences.

DS was 3 when I had DD.

Both were born via c section.

eeanne · 01/01/2018 15:25

I had a planned c section and was recommended not to conceive until 12 months postpartum. Ended up with a second c section with children 2 years apart.

Scrumptiousbears · 01/01/2018 15:28

I was told one year. I got pregnant again and exactly one year after I had my first. It was fine.

Howsthings1234 · 01/01/2018 15:48

I had an emergency c section and was told to wait a year but got pregnant when DD was 9 months so have a planned c section booked for birth of second baby in 5 weeks time. None of the consultants or midwives have said anything about the timing other than they recommend a c section in case of the scar rupturing etc. I wanted a planned c section this time as didn't want to face another emergency situ.

GrumpyOldBagFace · 01/01/2018 22:59

Emergency section with first and got told to wait a year. Got pregnant when first was 6 months old. Had placenta previa and some complications with the scar tissue, also breach at 37 weeks, my OB still said I could give vaginal delivery a go if I wanted Confused... I opted for a planned section and it was lovely.

2yrs 3mnths after dc1 I had a vbac. No problems.

swipeleft · 01/01/2018 23:09

17 months between 2 planned sections. I was given the choice of Vbac or section with second as the medical reasons I had during my first pregnancy were not an issue second time round.

DuggeeHugs · 01/01/2018 23:58

23 months between EMCS and ELCS. Nobody ever spoke to me about needing to wait.

ReadyForGoodNews · 02/01/2018 00:10

After my first c section I was told to wait 3 years if I wanted to have a "natural birth". However I had dc2 about a year and a half later so yes, I had to have a second c section.

mybreastsarentbest · 02/01/2018 00:12

My surgeon said there should be at least 18 months between the due dates. That’s advice in reference to another planned CS.

Stinkbomb · 02/01/2018 00:42

I had an EMCS with DD1, due to reasons I'm not going not to elaborate on here, I was desperate to conceive again asap after - my GP and Obs consultant said I needed to wait a min of 6 months before trying to conceive again

AutumnLeavesandCandleLights · 02/01/2018 12:16

I had emergency c section with first DC, fell pregnant about three months afterwards. Having an elective tomorrow, there will be 12 months and 3 weeks between my babies!

Waitingonasmile · 02/01/2018 12:57

Emcs with first and no one ever mentioned waiting to me. Due second baby 2.6 years after birth of first and want to try for vbac. Due to previous section if I haven't laboured by 40 weeks I will have another section.

piglet81 · 02/01/2018 13:13

I had an emcs and nobody said anything about waiting a certain length of time, not that I asked.

demirose87 · 02/01/2018 13:22

I've had four sections. I waited 5 years between the first and second but only because I didn't have a partner. I became pregnant 7 months after my third c section and everything was ok, after being told I should wait 5 years or be sterilised.

NauticalDisaster · 02/01/2018 13:25

I waited just over a year as I had been told to do. There is 1 year 11 months between my two. Both were EMCS and the second a lot more complicated due to adhesions; I have been advised not to get pregnant again.

Suzietwo · 02/01/2018 13:28

22 months
2.5 years
24 months

I was sterilised with number 4

YouCantBeSirius · 02/01/2018 17:32

There will be 10 and a half years between my c sections. I was advised to wait 1 year.
