When should I start taking Arnica?

I´ve read that Arnica is good to help bruising and recovery after childbirth.. is this just as true of vaginal birth as of Caesareans? If so, when should I start taking it?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I should think it would be as effective on CS.

I took mine when I came home and it was amazing. Really helped.

You take it after the birth - 30c twice a day is what I was recommended by a homeopath. Think it must have helped as I had little discomfort after forceps and quite a few stitches! Was recovered v. quickly. Also putting a couple of drops of tea tree oil in water (eg in the bath if you have time for one!) was great.

great, thanks! It´s already in my labour bag but just started wondering if I needed to take it in advance. Cheers!

It's fantastic. I took it for a couple of days before and for a week after a major operation and the bruising went very quickly!

maveta - thanks for starting this thread, was just wondering the same thing!

can you take it if you are breastfeeding?

sar123 · 23/04/2007 11:09

yes - my dd was/is exclusively breastfed and i took it from the day she was born.

Fine for breatfeeding and I agree it helps heal whatever needs healing....

I started taking it soon after giving birth, also a little lavender oil dropped onto sanitary towels is quite soothing and apparently healing. I took arnica while breastfeeding, and started giving it to my children quite young (maybe about a year, can't quite remember) if they had any bruising.
