If dc1 was a precipitous/ under 3 hours was your dc2?

Just that really! My ds1 was quick fast ... waters broke at 7.45pm, first mild contraction 9ish, 8cm by 10.40 pm and flew out in the pool at 12.20am after a couple of pushes. At 36+6.

Dc2 Due in march and worried history will repeat.

If you had a precipitous labour can you sure your story and if you had more than 1 quickly...

Just worried about childcare! Down for home birth but not 100%sure as moving to a rental while we renovate and worried the vibe in the new place might not suit birth!

I have fairly fast labours. All around the four hour mark and they got faster every time.

Don’t want to alarm you but I did end up having DC4 at home whilst my husband dropped the older children off at school. Thought I had time to wait for him to get back and drive me to the hospital but DC4 was on her way!

Don’t have much advice as obviously I didn’t have a good plan in place. But I would say that if you have had one very quick labour, one may have another one!

DD1 I arrived at hospital 5.5 dilated 4.30 babe in arms 7.06. DD2 bluelighted in after waters went and I was pushing on the kitchen floor. I had called my mum to help me with DD1 as I'd had some twinges and wanted to shave my legs . DD3 due to the above was to be induced at 39 was. Cervical assessment at 38 was to see if induction favourable. Next day felt the same emotional things might happen that I'd felt with DD2 so went to hospital . Told I wasn't in labour but admitted to the ward for observation. 20 mins later wheeled down arse in air on a bed and DD3 out before midwife who'd said I wasn't labouring finished her tea break. DD4 no cervical exams prior to established labour for fear of kick starting things. Induction at term. 1st dose of gel did nothing, they thought 2nd hadn't worked either. But strange emotional feeling again. Lovely student midwife sent to observe me, buzzed for help as she thought I was contracting strongly 3 in 10 mins lasting 1 min. Turns out she was right and DD4 arrived after ten mins in labour ward to a mother with a full face of make up on 15 mins after DH had begged not to be sent home .

Probably not what you wanted to hear. Can you go over your notes and express your concerns? See what they recorded the times of the stages to be?

Ds1 was 2 hours from start to finish. It was literally shocking and quite traumatic.

Ds2 was 3 hours and utterly blissful; really chilled out labour and delivery.

Ds3 was essentially 40 minutes - popped into mattie as my hips were sore and bang labour started and out he popped.

Dd (#4) 3 hours ish? Can't really remember but she did emerge with 1 push which was quite civilised.

Knowing what to expect and making more informed plans about how to labour was key to 2-4 being easier.

Hanah agree the speed of ds1 left me in a state of shock! I mostly was in the waiting room and corridor in labour as they didn't believe me, so had one check at 8cm and then 1 hour later baby... so no other progression or whatever and continuous contractions for the final bit so no time to process what I was doing!

Listen to my body in the lead up. Just hope it is not at work as I finished work 2 hours before my waters went last time!

Just hated the post natal ward....

Not for me 1st labour was 40mins, the 2nd 12hrs, the 3rd 7hrs and 4th baby was 6hrs :)

Hels 2 mins!!!

Did any of you have any idea or indications in pregnancy for a speedy ejection? I have very strong braxtons - did so with my ds too. Also he was 8lbs three weeks early but I swear on the day I gave birth I felt no change until Waters popped on the loo.

Yep, three fast ones here. My slowest was 4 hours, that was my second.
I planned home births anyway but they were also recommended by the midwives as a planned home birth is better than an unplanned one!

Yeah, my first 2 hours 50.
Dd2 - 55 minutes.

I was told by midwife to get in the car at first proper contraction and if alone, call an ambulance. Far better to go in and be told to go home than an emergent situation at home.

With dd2 they wanted to give me a sweep as they were worried about water levels. I refused to do sweep anywhere but in hospital as a sweep started my labour last time.
They did the sweep and 55 minutes later I had baby!

DC2 35 minutes

Two fast ones here. DC1 was 2 1/2 hrs, DC2 was 1 1/2 hrs.
