Well Today I was admitted into hospital at 26 weeks pregnant both before and during my pregnancy I've been suffering with high blood pressure but today when I came for my growth scan they said baby only weighed 1lb 10oz and was on the small side they also said that my placenta had a high resistance and was working to hard they said all of this together would be the start of preeclampsia so have admitted for precaution and will give me a c-section within the next two weeks as it would be to dangerous to leave baby in all of this to he seems so bazaar and happened so quickly with all of this happening means my little girl will be born between 27-28 weeks pregnant anyone had a baby born this early what is there to expect? I know it's not going to be amazing but really need help understanding as I'm scared to hell of what's going to happen to my little girl thank you

Hi Abbie - my baby was born closer to term but we had a week in the NICU and I didn't want to read and run.

Have the Neonatologists spoken to you yet? You should ask to see them to talk about what will happen to your gorgeous baby after the birth and what to expect in the weeks ahead. The NICU we were on has psychologists to support to the Mums, and the most amazing charity who also do a lot look after the parents on the unit. Your hospital might have the same?

I'm not a mum but I was born at 28 weeks - my mum had a C section because of pre-eclampsia too. Prematurity can be very dangerous and I was in hospital for 3 months. But I have had no long term health problems and now I'm working as a junior doctor. Good luck to you and your little girl.

Abbie, my 29 weekend is at school in reception. She is completely fine. I won't lie, the first few months were tough. But I found the positive stores helped immensely.

Oh, and the drs kept telling me that it was good she was a girl as girls statistically do better (this was mentioned by various doctors in different hospitals!).

I have since met lots of preemies (not related to my experience). All unscathed.

I was offered a tour of the NICU etc beforehand. I also ended up being moved the day of the section as local hospital didn't have a bed. It was defeated at the time but looking back it was fine. Both hospitals were very supportive. Both NICUs were amazing places with amazing staff. Good luck x

I had my baby at 32 weeks and it’s really hard to put into words what to expect and your experiences will be different to mine. If i’m honest it’s not going to be an easy road and there will be highs and lows along the way. I’d ask to see the special care unit at your hospital and talk to the nurses as they will explain what will happen from a practical point of view which is very important as there will be a lot of medical help given to your baby when he/she arrives and you need to be ready for that.
I would also look on the bliss premature baby website as that’s incredibly helpful.
