Stitches split

Hi

I was in labour a week ago and had a cut due to the use of forceps.

My Hv said the stitches were quite loose but shouldn't be a problem. I can't see them but today they are very painful and I seem to be bleeding from the wound. Could it be the stitches have come out and I know have an open wound?

Should I wait until Monday and go check at the Dr's?

Why is your HV looking at this? Aren't you still having midwife visits? Unless she is also a midwife I wouldn't think your HV would have the knowledge to advise.

Your HV?
Have you got your midwife's number?

unlikely that the sutures have split, but they might be showing signs of infection. although a hv may be a trained mw you will need a follow up sooner than later. the discharge should not be foul smelling. nor should you be feeling feverish, anything like this means a dr.'s visit asap.

I've just had my stitches come apart - I had to take a course of antibiotics but apparently they don't re
-stitch. Your Midwife should be able to have a look then sort a prescription for you. Hope you get it sorted out it is painful!

Sorry my mistake I meant MW, she did look yesterday and said they were loose but didn't look a problem.

They don't feel as painful this morning but I have times where they are.
