First VBAC appt at 33 weeks?

I’m currently 28 weeks pregnant with my third baby.
I had a very traumatic first delivery which ended in forceps and DD in intensive care suffering from perinatal strokes.
Second baby was a planned c-section, as despite my consultant saying there was no risk of the same thing happening again DD1’s neonatal Doctor (who we were still seeing at that point) advised the risk of strokes with a caesarean was much lower.
I haven’t spoken to anyone yet about how this baby will be delivered but would love to have a straightforward “natural” birth - if at all possible.
The thing is my first VBAC appointment - with a midwife not consultant - isn’t until I’ll be more than 33 weeks which seems very late. Especially as I will probably need time to consider the advice given. Is that normal? I have a routine 28 week midwife appointment tomorrow. Should I be asking for an earlier VBAC appointment?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

When did others have their first VBAC appointment with a midwife? I’m worried there isn’t much time to see a consultant (if I need to) or have further discussions, especially with the Christmas break.

I wasn’t aware there was such a thing? I’m now 29 weeks with my second and want a VBAC.
I’m consulatant led so saw one of the doctors last week and had a brief chat about it but as far as I know I have nothing more specific than that.
I have a vbac course booked (free nhs) when I’m around 32/33 weeks I think. Which seems late to me considering my daughter arrived at 28+4.

I’m not sure I understand - you weren’t aware VBAC appointments existed? Or something else?
I’m not consultant lead so haven’t spoken to anyone about the birth yet - whenever I have mentioned the issue to midwives so far they’ve just said it can be decided later.
VBAC course sounds like a good idea. I’ll be 33 weeks before I even speak to anyone about it so don’t think I’ll have that option.

I had my first appointment with a VBAC consultant at around 16 weeks, then I have the 'deciding' appointment in 5 weeks time when I'll be 36 weeks.

Mine was 32 weeks with a specialist midwife at vbac clinic then 36 weeks with consultant to decide.

Just had my vbac appt yesterday at 38+2, pretty late!

Wow Foggymist - that does sound late! How did it go?
Thanks for the replies. Midwife today said 33 weeks is fine so that’s what I’m sticking with.

It was fine, mostly good for help with birth preferences.
