Old theories and methods to get labor going OR simply get your body ready?

fully aware that none of these should be attempted without consulting your midwife first / before you reach full term

Also I know "it'll happen when your body is ready" ...

I've heard :

Nipple stimulation (tried with pump)
Bouncing on birthing ball (seems to tighten my belly but stops after)
Sex (definitely brought on back contractions for a day)
Kerb walking
Drinking : crazy amounts of orginial lucazade, raspberry tea
Eating : spicy foods
Jumping Jacks
Squats
Side walking up and down stairs
Crawling around on all fours

What other weird and crazy things have you heard? Give us a laugh, some are ridiculous lol.

Fresh pineapple - I am sure it worked for me. I was 40+12 and getting desperate!!

OnNaturesCourse · 06/11/2017 15:20

Yes, I have heard of that but forgot!

Heard you have to consume quiet a lot though?

I’ve heard the same about pineapple - lots and lots and you have to eat the whole thing, core and all! Don’t think I can stomach that much pineapple!

I just keep telling hubby he can help get out what he put in there... he’s not complaining!

Not sure if it will actually bring on labour, but I've been eating 6 dates a day since 36 weeks - meant to mean you're more likely to go into labour naturally and aid dilation once in labour. It's an easy one, though probs not such a good idea if anyone has diabetes.
www.mamanatural.com/dates-during-pregnancy/ - mentions studies

Evening Primrose Oil is another one I've heard!
