38 weeks here with buba number 3 and my midwife said your third can be very fast or take longer than your second but quicker than first.
My first was 24 hours (first pain to last)
Second was 12 hours
So I thought I'd ask from experience what happened to you?
Good or bad I'm prepared Confused

2nd was my fastest. First was a marathon. 3rd was back to back and slow and hard hard work. But at least I was well experienced with my third! I think it really helped.

Wonder what this 4th will be like. I'm determined to ignore the pain and let baby shoot out:)

DramaAlpaca · 12/10/2017 22:14

OP my first two labours were very similar to yours, 21 hours & 12 hours.

Third one was a home birth, 5 hour labour, three pushes & baby was out.

Sirrah · 21/10/2017 00:31

Each of my three labours were very different.

#1 at 38+6 - three and a half hours from waters breaking to delivery, no pain relief baby girl weighed 5.5lb

#2 at 34 - waters broke, no contractions all day, hormone drip from 5pm, baby boy shot out just after 10pm, g&a only, 6.25lb

#3 at 39+4 - contractions all day, went to hospital about 6.30pm, 5cm dilated. Asked midwife to break my waters as contractions had slowed, it worked, baby girl arrived just after 10pm, g&a only, but shoulder got stuck and baby was slow to get going. Baby was just over 9lb and absolutely fine in spite of the difficult start.

So my last was worst, but only because I'd been so lucky with the first two!

Dc1 12 hrs and back to back
Dc2 induction, right way round, 4 hrs start to finish
Dc3 13.5hrs and back to back

asongforthelovers · 21/10/2017 03:20

After pains were worse for me @Roxx1516 , started straight after delivery and were constant. The pain was different from last time as well. I had pain stomach, back, bum, hips - going down thighs.

xflipflopx · 21/10/2017 11:26

@Sirrah I was reading your post amazed at how great they sounded.
What a difference in weight with your third but then again your dd was term.
@HamSandWitches back to back scares me...this baby had always been difficult to determine position and I’m still not convinced that baby is not back to back..or breach, slightly preparing myself to get to hospital and they say oh theres a foot Shock
Did the after pains actually pull back in very much? I imagine after third it’s all pretty stretched anyway so the afterpains do nothing???

Dd1 I didn't know and it was never picked up. I was turned away from the hospital 3 times then admitted at 8.30 and delivered at 11.01. The midwives changed shifts, my cervix still wasn't open but she realised I was back to back and im the late stages.

Dd3 I didn't know until labour started again, wait ed as long as I could went to the hospital and was sent home! Anyway went back was forceful the babies back to back .

When I was carrying I now realise with dc3 when I felt my bump it was different to dd2. The main difference is the labour because the baby is pushing on you back end then nothing happens at the front. Its OK if you have a midwife who knows your back to back, with dd1 I was young and didn't have a clue I just kept going home with exp saying it's can't be that bad they have sent you home. Both were never picked up on but if you Google you can tell from feeling baby in your tummy it's the wrong way

EyeRollChampion · 21/10/2017 12:05

My first was 20 hours, second was 21, third was 5 and fourth was induced early so not sure if that counts but about 10 hours I believe.

Honestly, just try not to fret about it. It's not fun but you recover quickly and then it's all about that little cutie YOU JUST SQUEEZED OUT SINGLE HANDEDLY YOU TOTAL BADASS

My uterus went back to normal quicker with third, it was constant pain though. My stomachs definitely went down quicker as well I think.

How are you feeling op? Any niggles?

HeteronormativeHaybales · 21/10/2017 12:23

1st one over 2 days.
Second 4 or 5 hours start to finish, got to hospital pretty late on
Third induced (gel) at about 8.30am, nothing happened for a while, insignificant contractions started around noon, had made it to 2cm by 20 to 2 and was just being sent off to move my stuff to another labour room and considering trying a walk when it ramped up out of nowhere. She was born 20 min later. I ended up on my knees by the side of the bed with the pain, and rather embarrassed with it as I thought I was only 2cm still and being a wuss. Dh and a doctor who had come running lifted me onto the bed on all fours. I thought that if I pushed I might manage to break the waters and speed it along and pushed twice and she fell out of me in the caul while the doctor was still fumbling around with gloves.

HeteronormativeHaybales · 21/10/2017 12:26

Afterpains were horrid with nos. 2 and 3, especially 3, but it's a mercifully brief stage. I left hospital and walked the 10 min home with dd in the sling four hours after the birth.
Can't say my stomach went down quicker, though Blush

MaisieDotes · 21/10/2017 12:29

No. 3 was by far the quickest, he came 45 mins after arriving at hospital. He was also by far my biggest baby - 9lb 9oz.

1 & 2 were both back to back and took forever to be born.

ChipInTheSugar · 21/10/2017 12:32

One word: FAST Shock

Roxx1516 · 21/10/2017 12:42

Jesus 🙈 I dread to think how fast the 10th child would pop out and what the after pains would be like 😂

asongforthelovers · 21/10/2017 13:25

Ouch!! Thankfully I’ll never find out or experience. 3 is plenty for me 😂😂

Roxx1516 · 21/10/2017 14:11

😂 yea me too my maxx is 4 🙈 Although my nans and great nans all had 10-12 children each 😦 X

PotteringAlong · 21/10/2017 14:13

Too fast here too. I was in hospital as I was induced. Active labour was recorded as 9 minutes!
