Ds2 is officially due on Monday. Woke up last night in great excitement with back pain, tightenings etc only to find that all I could produce was a really big poo. Not the norm for me at 5.20 am.

I went back to bed still in pain, not expecting to sleep, but dropped off and was woken by dh at 8.30 with no more pains. Argh.

Today have had back pain all day (not like muscle strain pain, it feels internal) and am still on the loo a lot more than usual. Some of my contractions feel like painless bh but some are accompanied with pain and a strange feeling as if my lower abdomen is falling out (don't know if anyone can relate)

So how long do you think this can/will go on? I am truly, truly massive and my pelvic floor is groaning...

OOOhhh know just how you feel! I am due next sunday and have been having stuff like this for two weeks already! It could be tonight or it could be two weeks... I get most of my practise runs - usually lasting about 4 hours - 4 mins apart - at night and is driving me nuts!

I have a falling sensation too - truly weird!

Good luck - keep us posted!

octo · 07/04/2007 21:21

I am having contractions now - pretty strong bh which take my breath away - but in true style have already told dh he can drink wine tonight while he watches the golf! May warn him ...

EllieKthePA · 07/04/2007 21:22

not again octo

octo · 07/04/2007 21:24

It only happens when dh drinks! Have you recovered from last night? Is matthew back? Howz yr bro Skott?

whywhywhy · 07/04/2007 21:24

2 weeks octo!!? pleeeease lord not me too..

Is this your first? I can't remember this happening with ds1. I think I only had 1 day of mild contractions before he was born in 7.5 hours of very 'classic' labour.

Maybe my old uterus is now irritable!!

the abdominal falling out sensation is so weird. I can't work out if it's his head moving down or some weird muscle spasm.

oh the joys we mothers share

Well it could feasibly go on for another 2 weeks but it is most likely to be around a week perhaps (she guesses). What you are in is definitely pre-labour and baby is gearing up for the big push (Snigger) I know it's not funny! Anyway, it's best to carry on as normal as possible for now, making sure that you are well fed, watered, eliminated and rested.

Do you have stairs? Try takign them sideways, it helps with baby's rotation and if nothing else will make stair climbing a bit of fun and take your mind off things.

Laughter is good, helps to open you up in more ways than one.

You never know, labour might start tonight proper so get some sleep!

If nothing else keep posting here so that everyone can keep your spirits up.

Have had two glasses of wine myself - so feeling like have had about 6 pints of lager LOL - dh making me a hot chocolate and may go for a bath or bed v soon!

octo · 07/04/2007 21:25

oops wrong thread - don't drink really LOL - am having hot choc though and going to bed!

whywhywhy · 07/04/2007 21:26

Klaw you are right! I am going to try to sleep. I do feel quite giggly today and slightly trancey too. But I have this horrible feeling that like octo I may be in for a long haul of this...

octo · 07/04/2007 21:26

god have completely confused myself - thought was on due in april LOL

octo · 07/04/2007 21:28

Its my third whywhywhy - mw said could be niggling away for weeks and have had lots of lovely support from lulumama, nataliejane and many others!

EllieKthePA · 07/04/2007 21:29

at least you're not far of due date whywhywhy, octo has weeks!

octo · 07/04/2007 21:30

Are we up for timing contractions tonight - where is that contraction timer ellie??!

octo · 07/04/2007 21:30

one week ellie - just one week I'm sure you are due before me???!

EllieKthePA · 07/04/2007 21:33

you've got 1 week now octo, it was 3 when all this started!

and i'm due on monday - snap whywhywhy

whywhywhy · 07/04/2007 21:33

so it is more a 2nd/3rd baby thing this weird niggly discomfort?
I had this fixed idea this one would turn up before the time ds1 did (39+5) but now that day is past, I'm vexed...

OP posts:
EllieKthePA · 07/04/2007 21:35

don't know tbh, i'm on my 2nd and haven't had these troubles, lots of others but not these

whywhywhy · 07/04/2007 21:36

octo I don't even know if my contractions actually are contractions, iyswim...so timing is out for me, but if they really start I'll probably be back on here.

OP posts:
octo · 07/04/2007 21:36

am doing the falling thing now - weird, very weird - kind of like you are on a roller coaster and you drop down a steep bit and leave body at top LOL - but not fast - happens slowly - am I nuts or is that how you feel?

EllieKthePA · 07/04/2007 21:37

you're nuts

octo · 07/04/2007 21:37

Well I have had 4 contractions since 20 past LOL!

octo · 07/04/2007 21:38

Bed or count contractions ????

whywhywhy · 07/04/2007 21:39

no octo not nuts!

that is very much what I get, it's centred right in the lower abdomen/pelvis where baby's head is and sort of weirdly affects my breathing. WTH do you think it is? baby head movement? pelvic floor finally giving way??

OP posts:
whywhywhy · 07/04/2007 21:40

4 contractions??? octo has a midwife checked you for dilation etc?

I have got to get off the computer as dh wants to play his wargames but will check in in the am

OP posts:
octo · 07/04/2007 21:40

It makes me feel short of breath and have minor panic (lol) then the tightening starts - so maybe he is pressing on something?
