Hello, first time poster and ftm here so not sure at all what to expect.

I'm 41 weeks today and I've been having contractions since about 10 yesterday morning, which didn't settle into any pattern or become too painful so I didn't feel like I had to bother with going to the hospital.

26 ish hours later and I'm totally fed up - still no pattern, seem to have tailed off through the night while I tried to sleep, and have only just started picking up in intensity now (but still not anywhere near every 5 minutes) and I feel like my body just isn't doing it's job.

It also doesn't help that MIL has informed that whole side of the family and is calling every few hours to check if my waters have broken and telling me to go to the hospital even though I know they'll just send me away.

I guess the point of this post is for someone to tell me yes, what I'm going through is totally normal and it'll all be over soon!? I'm at my wits end here.

Good luck for you. May you will get it easily. I had the labor pain in my pregnancy. It was too little. It was started ta midnight. I didn't tell my midwife till morning. When she came to know she was astonished. She asked how you bear it. I thought it back pain due to too much bed rest. They took me into labor room. I waited for 5 hours for vaginal birth but it couldn't be. I was dilated only 2cm. They called doctor for a c-section. C-section also was not tuff one. I only felt the injection pain which was only for some seconds. After c-section, one week I had to bear stitches pain. It was really dreadful. But I think it is much less than vaginal birth pain.

Thank you all!!

Yes kezza my second pessary did the trick it seems, had it inserted at about 10pm and by 2am was 4cm dilated. I was suffering through what I thought was prostin pains but it was actually contractions. I had paracetamol, then something along the lines of di-hydroxy-codeine(??) and an injection of diamorphine which only gave me around 30-40 mins of respite when the mw decided to examine me again. I was then carted off to labour ward and had gas and air until about 6cm then had an epidural. By 6.30am I was fully dilated and was ready to push an hour later.

Really didn't want to have forceps but as he was such a big baby after the initial hour of pushing it was put on the table but I asked for some more time to push. I was given lidocaine and adrenaline which took affect immediately to numb me from the waist down and continued to push. Unfortunately he was just too big for me to get out on my own so had to use the suction cup but all worth it in the end when he was born 15 mins later Smile

I honestly think the build up to labour was the worst, rather than labour itself. Good luck with it all kezza and let us know how you get on!!
