1st Period

Hey ladies, how long dies it take before you have a period again after giving birth also? Is it quite a nasty 1 normally? .

Depends if you are breastfeeding or not. Having said that I exclusively breastfed and my first period was 3 months after I'd given birth. It was a normal period -not too heavy or painful

Ye I'm breast feeding, so can take a few months then ? Ah right ok , do advise for you not to take the pill and that so you have a period to make sure everything is ok?

I think you can take the mini pill whilst breastfeeding. Exclusively breastfeeding can't be relied on to be a contraceptive.

Mine didn't return till 23 months, did breastfeeding on demand till 21 months and kept breastfeeding a further 10 months after that. My first period back was very light and the following two didn't seem any heavier than normal, but did find they were shorter than before having DS. Conceived DD the following cycle despite having a couple of really long cycles (7 weeks).

Are you taking Cerazette?
Both of my dc were mix fed. With ds (1st baby)my period didn't return until I stopped bf, literally 4 weeks after I stopped at 6 months. With dd it came back after 4 months and she had more bm than ds. Both times it was quite unpleasant but manageable with paracetamol.

I didn't get a period for 14months when breastfeeding, it only came back when I night weaned. Was normal. I then went back on the pill so haven't had another.

Have had 4 dc, breast fed 2 bottle fed 2, my periods returned within 6 weeks of birth with all 4 of them, normal period for me.
