Is this mental torture ever going to end?

40+11. Facing induction and I am beyond upset about that.

Had a second sweep yesterday and afterwards had some period pains. 2-3 hours later was getting intense but irregular 'contractions', in my back and lower abdomen- like the worst period pain in the world. Went to sleep after about an hour, and I wake up this morning with nothing.

Had a 'bloody' show this morning. I thought I'd already lost my mucous plug a few days ago.

What is going on?? Am I in labour or not? Am I ever going to give birth?

Yes. That's the short answer.
Any contractions?

Hemlock2013 · 16/09/2017 08:28

Bloody show means you're near for sure... go for a walk and then have a bath maybe?

Sympathies though, it's hell. Waiting for a baby is horrid at the end... x

I had what felt lie contractions last night- I was pretty convinced last night. But now all has stopped and I feel fine.

I was induced at 40+12 with my first, and it was fine! I was almost ready to pop anyway so I think I just needed a little nudge. I hope it's the same for you. Good luck op, you'll meet your wee baby very soon, I promise Smile

Thanks Hemlock. I am so sick of waiting, and the thought of induction makes me so sad (long story why)

Well I doubt you'll need a full blown induction. You're getting there by the sounds of it.

I think a walk is you're best bet and a nice rest....

Is it number 2?

Lowdoorinthewal1 · 16/09/2017 08:35

I second a big long walk. Really closely monitor your baby's movements and if there is any reduction, or difference, go straight in.

Nobody told me that and I left my baby in distress for hours Sad and ended up with a crash section.

hairylegsdontcare · 16/09/2017 08:38

Baby no.1, so I suppose I'm guessing- but it definitely felt like contractions: hardening, back pain radiating to front, etc.

Will go for a walk a bit later to see if that starts anything again.

I've been feeling so miserable over the last week or so. I seriously hope things start on their own 🙁

Good luck! Hopefully the walk will get things moving 😁

Hemlock2013 · 16/09/2017 08:42

I had lots of period pains and bracton hicks which are hardenings but for me when contractions started they were markedly different, like a sharp pain.

Everyone is different though, so that may not be useful!

The last slog is mentally hard. I was also depressed waiting for my second baby. It won't be long now...

DorothyHarris · 16/09/2017 08:42

Mine was born 36 hours after the show...good luck

Pregosaurus · 16/09/2017 08:43

Baby #1 born after induction here, was totally totally fine - epidural, forceps, the works. Great excuse to get an epidural nice and early :)

Crumb502 · 16/09/2017 08:48

My son was born 24 hours after my bloody show... good luck!!

1stTimeRounder · 16/09/2017 10:01

Definitely go for a walk. I was induced and mild contractions started about 12hrs after they put the pessary in. Went for a walk and it REALLY ramped things up. If you're ready to pop, and it sounds like you are then the induction might just move things along if you get to that point.

Go for a walk, hills and stairs are good too... let us know how it goes Flowers x

Hairylegs I'm in pretty much the same situation I'm 40+10 today, had my show yesterday morn and my bloody show this morn - every evening I seem to get loads of braxton hicks/ nerve pain/ pains in back. Think "ooohh this is it, must go to bed to rest up" then nothing! Induction date of Monday is looming near.

Just back from a 4 mile waddle so 🤞 I've also been bathing in clary sage - nothing seems to be working.

Hoping things start moving for you soon!

HandbagFan · 17/09/2017 08:06

I remember this well - I got to 42+1 with DS and it was horrible. But yes, one way or the other that baby will be coming out of you and you'll get to enjoy the next phase.

In my case, three days of failed induction and an EMCS, but I got my baby in my arms safely and that's when the fun really begins.

I promise it will get better really soon.
