Spontaneous Labour?

I'm 40 weeks pregnant with a rapidly growing baby (see my other thread but it's over 8 pounds currently and I have a very small frame, 5"1 + 7 1/2 stone before pregnancy) but what is worrying me is I have no signs of labour coming on... no show, my belly hasn't dropped- this could be because there is nowhere for it to go! But in general no signs... Did anyone go into labour spontaneously without any indication? How did it start?

I'm just so anxious for things to get started so I don't get any bigger, I've gone from being really positive to thinking this will be a instrument birth or ending in c-sec.

All 3 of mine were the same. Went to bed after an argument with dh (not sure if this helped?!) waters went in bed, out popped babies a few hours later. Good luck-you will be just fine!

Me with DC1, woke at 5.45am needed a wee, lay there for a minute thinking of heaving myself out of bed, felt a pop and thought oh shit my waters have gone in the bed but then nothing. No gush. Not even a trickle.

Stood up to go for that wee and gushed water all over the floor. Weak contractions started about 3 hours later, but nothing strong. Didn't really kick in or become regular until about 9pm. Went to hospital at around midnight and was 3cm dilated.

It all went very pear and I ended up with an emergency c section at 6am but Ds was in distress and it was needed for a safe delivery.

With my 2nd I was having regular scans due to placenta praevia & there were concerns that baby was big for me.

Fortunately got the "all clear" re the pp & had baby easily couple of days later.

Had gone into hospital a couple of hrs after waters breaking. With first twinge I was 8cms.

Baby was "tiny"-actually low birth weight!

So yours might not be as big as thought.

I'm 5ft & was 48kgs when I fell pregnant with first.

Had easy births with both-no tears or stitches.

My mum was the same size & had a couple of stitches with first due to a tear & she swears it was because she was panicked, not listening to the MW & pushed when she shouldn't have.

Hope that all goes well & you have your baby soon.

I was 41+4 with my first, 42+1 with my second and 41+3 (induced because they estimated her to be 10 1/2lb) and she was 8lb 6.

Don't worry my second was 8lb 9oz and the birth was the easiest by far! and I am quite small 5ft 3

I have also never had the 'gush' of waters either - I remember my waters being broke with my third and it was like someone sprayed a bit of room mist!

39+6 with my first and didn't realise I was in labour for about 6 hours because the pain was all in my back.

I spent the day in and out of the bath trying to ease the back pain. After 6 hours I noticed that the really painful 'twinges' were happening more often so I called the maternity unit. From my description they knew I was having contractions so told me to get my arse down there sharpish.

Sometimes it's not just the 'obvious' signs you need to look out for Smile

All the best OP I hope your baby comes soon Flowers

Was 38 wks with first, went out for a curry, waters broke when we got in at 11pm. I'd got the train there and back, and been working that day. Really should have stopped earlier! Hind waters went just before I got in the birthing pool. DS was 7lb 11oz.

Currently 38 weeks again and going to order in the curry this time, maybe later this week.
