Exactly that?

Getting very scared and nervous this time round. Previous labours were not bad but terrified for this one.

From first contraction to baby being born:
#1 23.5 hours
#2 8 hours
#3 6 hours

eviethehamster · 25/08/2017 05:39

Very very fast. Water broke at 10am. Baby born at 12:50pm. I barely made it.

Was it your hardest? I have 6 weeks left to go and get myself in to some states thinking about labour.

Think best thing for me is for it to just happen 😰

Focus on the lovely baby at the end of it all. You've done it twice now and you'll do it again, with all the courage of your sisters who've gone before!

My 3rd was not as nice and short as my 2nd but it was more a sense of 'gosh would this just be over with' rather than the shock and stress of the first time. It wasn't agonisingly painful, just long and annoying. I was also more feisty with the staff, not wanting them to constantly check my progress.

A nice thing is that when the baby arrives you feel on top of the world and so confident because you know so much better what you're doing and what's ahead.

I actually loved my third labour! Backstory I was in hospital already as my waters had broken early.
Woke up at midnight with niggling period pains, nurses gave me 2 paracetamol and ran me a bath at around 1am. Stayed in the bath for about 2 hours, but I felt like I was actually hallucinating, I was so relaxed I could imagine hearing my older children's voices and I was almost meditating (I'm not a very woo person, this was unlike me!)
They took me down to labour ward and dd was born shortly after 4. The pain was less intense, I felt more relaxed and quite in tune with my body, despite it being a scary time with an early breech labour.

Your body has done this twice before, it knows what to do. Just try and relax and it will be over before you know it Smile

Thanks ladies, think it's the waiting game of knowing what's to come that's making me a bit scared. Also worried baby's going to be bigger, think I'll be ok when it starts and I'll just go along with it.

I think I'll maybe be thinking "get this baby out" in 6 weeks time ha.

My third was bigger than the others by quite a long way (2nd was the smallest) but I honestly didn't notice the difference in the throes of labour. No tearing or stitches either (10lb 11oz). By the third your body really know what to do. Relax and trust your body.

Neolara · 25/08/2017 22:25

Quick. 30 mins. Delivered by dh.

eddiemairswife · 25/08/2017 22:29

home birth (not chosen, just standard for area then). 4 days overdue. Woke up at 5, baby born just after 8, small head, no pain relief needed.

Witsender · 02/09/2017 15:19

I'll let you know in a month or so. 😂
#1 was 7lbs and 27hrs.
#2 was 9lb11oz and 1.5 hrs

travis45 · 02/09/2017 16:01

Haha @Witsender, when are you due? 5 weeks left for me 😰

Soslowmo · 02/09/2017 16:19

3 quick labours - around 2/3 hrs each. 2nd two were born at home. 3rd one was pretty intense, but it was quick, so that helped. Home births were fantastic. Good luck with yours - it sounds like it should be another straight forward birth.

PolarBearGoingSomewhere · 02/09/2017 16:24

Second was the best and easiest, only needed paracetamol. Third not as long or scary as first, but baby was back-to-back. From wondering if I was in labour to delivery about 7 hours. 6cm dilated on arrival at hospital at 10.30pm but it all slowed down and I had her just before 4am.

ChipInTheSugar · 02/09/2017 16:31

Third was fast!! Almost a home birth; in transition when I got to the labour ward and out baby came Smile

Witsender · 02/09/2017 19:23

About 7 weeks. They want to induce at 40 wks on the nose due to strep b and my speedy last labour...combined with the damage from #2. They'll scan at 38 wks, if he is as big as #2 or bigger, then c-sec is indicated.

ClariceBeanthatsme · 02/09/2017 19:28

Just like you travis45 my first labour was 6 hours, second was 3 hours then my third was 45 minutes...!

Sneezeandooops · 03/09/2017 16:27

I was quite scared about no.3 but it was by far the easiest and quickest. After pains were alot worse though. Hope all goes well for you x

travis45 · 04/09/2017 22:24

Ah I remember the after pains we'll with no.2. My husband thought I was at it!

Will have the paracetamol at the ready.

Next month and it will all be over, don't think it's actually kicked in that I will have another baby yet.
