Has anyone here had a precipitate labour?

I had what I think qualifies as a PL with DD - 95 minutes. I am pg with DC2 now and although only 8w, I'm already starting to think about this.

I think 2nd babies are generally faster, right? Is that also the case with precipitate labours - do they get more, er, precipitate?

I very much want a home birth as worried about getting to hospital on time!

I had a 15 minute labour start to finish . Was quick and easy no stitches

I had PL for mine, both of them.

First was 21/2 hours from first contraction. Thankfully mine was started by a sweep (had sweep, before midwife could remove her hand I was contracting. 3 mins apart from get go.

Second time I had low waters so they wanted to induce early, they induced at 37 weeks and said PL doesn't normally factor into early inductions. I had a feeling they would be wrong!

Midwife came in to 'do an initial examine before they start things off'.
My DH said 'if you go up there you better be ready to catch!' She did a quick examination and sure enough labour kicked off like a rocket. Baby came 87minutes later.

Yes I had a precipitate labour with my second child. 1hr 55mins from start to finish, just made it to hospital in time. My first labour was 3hr 55mins.

DS1 2hrs 50 and DS2 was 90 minutes. Would have been quicker second time but shoulder dystopia held up proceedings.

DC1, 2.5hrs, DC2 45mins (just made it to the hospital) if I ever had dc3 would definitely go for home birth

Three hours 10 minutes for DD1. 90 minutes for DD2 and I decided that two children were more than enough thanks. I was also warned by my consultant that if I went for baby no 3, I would be less than an hour in labour and over 9lbs in weight. He also helpfully told me that I would not be able to deliver said baby naturally, as both DDs were almost 9lbs and I had been close to not being able to deliver them naturally. His words confirmed to me that not having another was exactly the right move, even though I had had no doubts that two were enough.

First labour was 4 hours
Second was 45 mins
Third was 15 minutes- was induced so already at hospital
Fourth was less than 5 mins, 2 contractions and no pushes. Baby just delivered herself pretty much as we got to hospital!

Like you I hadn't a fast first labour. I wanted a HB for the second as I was worried about not getting to the hospital on time. Unfortunately, second labour was so quick that the midwife didn't get to me before I gave birth. Neither did the paramedics. I had the baby in the bathroom with just my best friend there (DH was at work still). If you do go for a HB, make sure you call the midwife at the first twinge!

Yeah all three were.

First was an hour and ten minutes. Second was forty five minutes and third I woke in the night bearing down. With my third I pushed for a home birth but the consultant wasn't happy and said that she really didn't recommend it and just because the previous two had been fine if there was an issue with this one and something went wrong I'd never forgive myself.

Anyway I still rushed to hospital panting against my body pushing and made it their where they did hit the emergency button but luckily it all turned out OK.

Second and third dc in 3hours. Ds 6 in less than 2 hours. Still fully clothed +shoes!!

Yep! Both home births so wasn't too alarming.

Second one the midwife stressed to call her at the very first twinge (she lives 15 mins away from me). She got here just in time to chuck a shower curtain on the floor and catch the baby! DH was out of the house for 10 minutes taking DC1 to nursery and missed it!

Our midwife was great in the run up and went through with DH how to deliver the baby if she didn't get there in time. Also talked through a plan with me for what I'd do if I was by myself. Would definitely recommend having those conversations to reassure yourself.

Planned home births, I should have said!

I had this with dc3 (under 3 hours with a 6 minute 2nd stage) and was told I should consider a homebirth for dc4.

I did and dc4 weighed in at just over 11lbs and took 6 hours.

So yes there is a chance it could happen again, but really anything can happen!

Hmm so sounds like with a first labour of 1.5 hours, I may well be in for a faster one!

What is also slightly alarming to me is, I didn't experience contractions as such. I just had a very sore feeling in my cervix that sort of waxed and waned. That went on for about 50 ish minutes but I "knew" I wasn't in labour as I couldn't feel cx. I thought it was some type of hideous pre labour pain.

Then I started pushing! In fact, I had been in transition....
