Antenatal Hypnosis Cds

Has anyone tried them or know someone who has? Was thinking of giving them a whirl.

I used the Mongan Hypnobirthing one
Quite good, v relaxing

I tried gowri motha (gentle birth method) & 2nd nature hypnobirthing (which is mongan-based). both good and effective. GBM is less flowery & hippy (which i preferred), but 2nd nature had a fantastic breathing method which was indispensable.

I listened to this one . I found the relaxation exercises lovely to do every day and it helped give me lots of confidence that I could cope with labour.

ditto the natal hypnotherapy one, and I always slept well afterwards

I teach HypnoBirthing and in my view the most important thing is that you have a daily routine of lying down or reclining (left lateral lying, or leaning over a birth ball works well) with NO interruptions and listening to the CD allowing yourself to relax completely from head to foot. Start several weeks before your due date and be absolutely tyrannical about your daily "fix"! With this kind of hypnosis, if you don't practise it, it won't work. Or rather, it will work a little bit but not nearly as much as it could if you gave it a chance. Good luck

I'm using Natal as well at the moment. Have fallen asleep a few times doing the relaxation piece. Haven't listened to the Birth prep one yet. I think it's definitely worth a whirl based on feedback and case studies I've seen. Good luck!

ess - i am due in a couple of weeks and have been trying to listen to the mongan one every day. i think it has really helped me to relax. a friend had her first at home about 12 weeks ago - she was really really into her hypnobirthing and had a wonderful expereince. 3.5 hrs from beginning to end, no pain killers, no stitches and when asked if she coudl help her cervix go from 7 cms to full 10 - she focused and was able to do it in 15 mins. cant say i am expecting the same results from myself - but if anything helps - why not give it a go??

I ordered the gentle birth method birth preparation cd but found it to be a really bad sound quality and production and the voice was spoke very quicky which is not what you want for a hypnosis cd. So I've just ordered the natal hypnotherapy hospital birth cd and will wait to see if it's better. Hope it is.

natal hypnotherapy birth preparation cd is fab. Am convinced that this cd is the reason that I got through whole labour and birth on 2 paracetamol only! In fact didn't even realise I was in labour until I was fully dilated as kept thinking 'surely labour is more painful than this'

Am 34+4 at the moment and have been using natal hypnotherapy cds. relaxation has def helped with sleeping and with headaches earlier on in pregnancy. Have just started on birth prep cd which i think will be helpful. This is my second child. Was able to do yoga/hypnotherapy with a teacher first time round which was really helpful and led to natural and relatively quick birth of v large baby. I feel that these cds offer the same kind of thing since so many probs/pain etc seem to come from fear and tension. Go for it!

Hi theprecious, the one I am sending jofeb04 is different (if you google Maggie Howell you'll get there) but doesn't nec mean these aren't good too. I'm sure someone else will check back to this thread and let you know.
