I gave birth a couple weeks ago and have now been readmited to hospital with pre eclampsia. How long does this take to resolve postpartum?

If you're in the hospital now I'd say the best people to ask are your doctors and nurses? Feel better soon x

I had it straight after birth. I was in hospital for two nights afterwards (until blood pressure went back to normal), heavily monitored and on medication for about 5 weeks. Because they were so strong I had to be weaned off them in case the blood pressure went too low. Sorry to hear you're going through this, but in my experience it did go back to normal quickly x

Can be up to six weeks. So normally blood pressure meds to sort it. Once they get your bp under control you'd be able to go home again.

Are they sure it's pre eclampsia and not chronic hypertension which has just been picked up now? Was your bp ok in pregnancy?

It took me 12 weeks to get weaned off all medication (2 different ones) but I think that is not the average. Best thing is to ask the doctors, it all depends on how well your body reacts to the medication.

Hi. Thanks I am feeling better. I started to having high blood pressure towards end of pregnancy and was put on meds. I didn't have protein in urine or any other symptoms before labour. .When i got admitted I had some symptoms and blood tests werent great. They increased my meds. Blood pressure now seems to be normal so hopefully i can decrease them soon. For some reason things are just taking longer to resolve. Drs werent really sure why.
