I am being induced on Thursday and want to know what pain relief is available for me to have?
I have had a low risk pregnancy and this is my first.

For me, as I recall, it was gas and air, pethidine and epidural, but can vary from hospital to hospital. I narrowly missed out on taking part in a trial of a different drug that sounded ideal for me, but I was in full blown labour at the weekend and they only did it Monday to Friday.

Oh also for the first stages, it was just paracetamol and codeine (which for me wasn't enough as my labour went on for days). The good stuff wasn't available until I was moved to labour ward.

I had paracetamol, pethidine, and gas and air - pre labour ward. Once on the labour ward, epidural.

Yup, was same drug options as a normal birth for me too. I had 2 inductions, one with nothing, second with epidural.

I was hoping for a home waterbirth with DC2, obviously that was out!

Good thing about being induced is you have access to the good shit quite early on, I had pethadine in the early stages and codeine except that kept making me puke.

Pethadine is lovely I was quite annoyed at it being too late for any the 2nd time around Grin

They gave me cocodamol (sorry no idea how to spell it) while I was still on the induction ward as they didn't believe I was as far a long as I was. When they finally did examine me I was 7cm dilated (in 4 hours from 2cm). As soon as I got down on delivery they offered me gas and air but I hated it. I know a lot of people love it but for me it just made me feel so spaced out and horrible. I had pethadine a few hours later but it made me awfully sleepy! I think it makes the baby sleepy too as we had trouble at the end. All the best for today! It's such an exciting time! Wishing you a smooth delivery x

Oh interesting bringmetea I had a similar experience with g&a I found it frightening. It obviously varies a bit though; none available on my induction ward, I only remember getting paracetamol and a bath 😕 my tens machine got me quite far though
