Milk Coming In

I had DS yesterday morning (4am), is it possible that my milk has come in already?

Boobs are mahoosive already and milk is coming out, not just colostrum. Just under the impression it usually comes in on day 3 and a tad concerned that boobs will be HUGE as am already bursting out of nursing bras with 4 breaticles syndrome

Oh yes I remember the milk comes in like a flood. Ouch! Don't think there is a rule as to how long that takes.
Hope the bf is going OK.Good luck with everything.

Congratulations!

My milk came in really quickly with my last baby - born at 2am and milk was in by that evening. It sounds as though yours is probably in already.

Wear sleeping bras for a few days until it settles down, I shot up a size when milk came in but a week later they went down (well, as down as they ever get!)

Mine seemed each time to take absolutely ages, from memory 3 days or even longer. It really annoyed me and I think the babies although I might have misread it and I suppose they were getting colostrum for days so it shouldn't have bothered them.

Moomin · 26/03/2007 22:43

why did it annoy you Xenia - were you wanting to go back to work?

moondog · 26/03/2007 22:44

lol at Moomin.
(Sorry Xenia)

WCL, mine was in for DS (born nearly 3 weeks ago) in around the same time. Probably because he was big and feeding so much...
Congratulations!

Judy1234 · 27/03/2007 08:35

No, but the twins did seem to be desperately wanting some of the real stuff. Feeding again and again trying to get it going and the more they feed the more they'll bring it in. They certainly had to work hard for a good few days. I didn't feel their tummies were as full and satisfied before the milk came in as after adn I think also hormonally I felt very different once the milk was there. I could feel a real milk let down reflex feeling and release of oxytocin which makes you feel happy and relaxed and I don't think I got that on breastfeeds before the milk came.

Congratulations! It does sound like your milk is in! It is amazing how big and hard they get isn't it - I kept wanting to show my dh and my mum my boobs as I was so in awe - I think that they had both seen enough of my anatomy by that stage that neither of them were very interested! Don't be worried about what should and shouldn't be - if you have enough milk to feed your ds you are on to a good thing - best wishes and congrats again

NormaStanleyfEGGcher · 27/03/2007 09:16

Mine came in really quickly this last time as well. Make sure you have really good bras

nogoes · 27/03/2007 09:19

Mine never came in I don't think. MIght explain why ds lost nearly 2lb after 2 weeks of bfeeding.

nogoes

Thanks for replies, am on day 3 now and boobs have settled down so I think my milk did come earlier than I expected
