I'm slightly in shock, amazing second baby born last night but such a difference in size to first.

Just wondered what other people's size differences were?

Baby 1, girl, 3 days early, 6lb 12oz
Baby 2, boy, 8 days late 8lb 13oz

Baby 1 - Girl - 13 days late - 11b 6.5oz (now 12 and one of the smaller in her year)
Baby 2 - Girl - 5 days early - 9lb 13oz

1st baby, a girl, 6lb 12oz, 2 weeks early.
2nd baby, a boy, 6lb 9oz, 4 weeks early.

Doesn't always work like that. I had:

Baby 1 (girl, 2 weeks late) 9lb 1
Baby 2 (boy, 2 weeks early) 8lb 6
Baby 3 (boy, 2 weeks early) 8lb 6

Admittedly the boys might have been 10lb ish if they'd had the extra 4 weeks to gestate that baby 1 had though Grin Still babies 2 and 3 were the same gestation and identical weights, so not getting progressively bigger.

Babies 2 and 3 were 4cm longer than baby 1 but identical to one another (not twins).

For those of you who had babies via drip induction and they were big there are some interesting articles suggesting this artificially inflates birth weight.
I had a very long, detailed scan two days before my daughter was born. A consultant and a sonographer both separately concluded she would weigh no more than 7lbs. Two days later an after a drip labour plus lots of fluids due to my dehydration she was just under 10lbs and really bloated, poor little pickle. . Three days after her birth she had visibly deflated and was dinky as can be. I mentioned it to HV and she said this is why they aren't fixated on birth weight in immediate 24 hours but weight gain.

Who knows Confused

Baby 1 - 9lbs 3oz at 38.5 weeks
Baby 2 - 10lbs 15.5oz at 38 weeks

Number 1 is now 9 and beautifully average height and weight and BMI, number 2 is now 7 and tall but super super skinny!!! DH and I both were big babies (and all our siblings) but pretty average now
