When is a show not a show?

I had what I thought was a show 10 days ago (am 41 weeks with DB2), although was not sure as didn't seem as much as I'd had with DD1 Still no sign of baby and had a check up with midwife this morning who tried to do a stretch and sweep. She couldn't because my cervix (although soft and 1.5cm) was still firmly closed.

Does this mean that the 'show' I had was not a show at all? I thought the cervix would have to be dilated for the mucous plug to come away - any advice?

I think you can have a show quite a while, like even 10 days, before going into labour. It isn't always immediately before, but probably means things are getting geared up (bet you're glad too at 41 weeks!!). I don't really know anything about the physiology though, sorry!

Good luck!
