How much warning did you get for DC2+?

Sitting here feeling hot and impatient at 39+5 (which is when DC1 arrived) and just wondering if I should brace myself to go way over this time as I've had no "signs" yet at all and baby not even engaged yet Sad

With DC1 I had contractions on and off for several days, plus sickness and diarrhoea (sorry!), plus lost mucous plug so I knew she was on her way! I'm just wondering what people's experiences have been second time round? Could it all happen very suddenly this time or am I clutching at straws?!

DS1 was a long and drawn out labour of around 40hours. Ended up on Monitors with an epidural and 4 hours of pushing. DS2 was 4 hours start to finish and just gas and air!

Ds1 I was induced at 38 weeks.
Ds2 I went into labour the day I turned 39 weeks, mucous plug, waters etc (but ended in section 2 days later)
3rd i had a few false alarms from 35 weeks, one i stayed up all night thinking this was it, but I had planned section on her due date.
I may just be crap at labour but I'm 20 weeks and will be ignoring any "signs" this time as they don't seem to mean anything for me.

First time my waters broke midday, contractions started in ernest around 8pm (spoilt my pizza a bit, but I pushed through and ate it 🍕 martyr that I am Grin ), baby born at 7.30am.

Second I woke at midnight with contractions strong and five min a apart, baby born at 7am.

No warning signs either time.

Thanks for the replies. Maybe there's hope then! Baby's already measuring large so don't fancy going too far over Confused

I went to bed on my due date with ds2 in a grump as no signs ... only to wake up at 3am in full blown labour! He was born 3 hours later. He hadn't even been engaged the day before! I didn't get a single warning sign. Good luck OP 👍

Far more signs than I did with my first. I had time to ring for help and everything.

Following with interest. I'm currently 37+4 with my second and my dh is 400 miles away. Been having strong bh all night and pain...

WishUponAStar88 · 14/06/2017 20:37

I woke with bloody discharge (had lost plug ages before). Contractions started a couple of hours later. Baby born a few hours later.

If it's any consulation DS1 was 5 days early and weighed 7lb 13.5oz. DS2 was 8 days late and was 7lb 6oz!

Good luck OP! No signs with either of mine, with DC1 I was the same as fiddling, had a giant meltdown on due date, convinced I would be pregnant forever, then went into labour just past midnight and had her that afternoon Grin
DC2 born at 39w exactly, I'd been losing plug in the day but figured it was just things getting ready...first little cramp (thought it was BH) at 10.30pm, proper pains by about 11.30pm and was holding a baby by 2.30am! Was quite a shock. Hope things happen for you soon!
