I have my first ante natal appointmnet on Thursday and the doctor is bound to ask which hospital. I went to highwoods after a scare on friday but colchester general (the old fashioned looking one) is nearer to me. I moved to the area about 18 months ago and had my daughter in Mnahcester so I have no idea which is best.

Does anyone have any experiences in any of the local hospitals and which would you choose (I should be having a CS after a 3rd degree tear last time- i hope!)

Thnaks Emma

Not sure where 'HIghwoods hospital' is...but i do know the area of HIghwoods. I'm wondering if you are getting the General and the County muddled up. Colchester general is the ugly green building near HIghwoods Country Park and the older one near the town centre is the County. There is no choice to have a baby at The County Hospital, as they only offer a few services. The actual maternity bit is at The General. I had DS in Chelmsford, but I am due to have number 2 in Colchester general next week. I have seen a lovely consultant at the hospital after a C-section last time and I have been impressed overall with the service they have offered me.

I hope this helps you and I hope the antenatal appointment went ok.
