Placenta or uterine lining after birth ?

Hi
Trying my thread here as no response under health heading.

Hi
Posting for daughter 7 weeks post partum. Had surgery after the birth for placenta accreta where her placenta was stuck to her womb. Alls been fine but just now she found a 10p size piece or what looked like raw chicken in her undies she must have passed. No blood. Slight tummy cramps. No temperature.
No photo as she flushed it!
Any ideas please? I'm wondering if some placenta still there or uterine lining?
Thank you all

Wouldn't be placenta- that looks more like dark red /purple liver .

Is it solid? The only thing I can think of that would be chicken coloured is an early pregnancy ?

Uterine lining would also be dark red or red . Not pink .

Is she sure it's not discharge?

Think they only did the deed last week after her 6 week check as the doc asked and I was in the room too. Could that be possible ? She had a period 4 weeks after he was born. I asked the same about discharge but wasn't jelly like was hard looked like raw chicken she said. May get her to pop to the docs. If it happens again I said to pop it in a nappy sack.

I've had this while on the pill, it looked and felt just like raw chicken. Definitely wasn't pregnant. It was womb lining. There's a certain pill that this tends to happen with as well, which I was on at the time, but I can't remember which one it was.

It could be retained membranes or some sloughing of the uterine wall. Either way, assuming she is well, I can't imagine it would be anything to worry about.

You can retain placenta for a while, especially if it came out with ragged edges. What I passed was pale and meat-like so it wouldn't necessarily look like fresh placenta after time has passed. Worth mentioning to Health Visitor or at Baby Clinic to put her mind at rest though.

Thanks everyone. Funny enough she went back on the pill last week. And that would also make sense about retained placenta as I had it too 8 weeks after birth - could be hereditary? and I had to have a little op. He's now 23 lol. I'll pass this all on. Smile

Hello,
I passed what I described as raw chicken 9 weeks post partum, I mentioned it to a friend who said I must see my GP straight away - I had no symptoms of infection at all and ended up having retained placenta stuck in my cervix (which was missed on 2 ultrasounds and only picked up from a speculum examination).
Please please tell your Daughter to seek medical advice.

Has she seen a doctor? If not, arrange for it as soon as she can, especially with her history of accreta and surgery.

She couldn't get a doc or nurse appt today Heart & Sycamore has to ring early tomorrow morning. I've told her of the replies on this thread and to get it sorted asap before I'm away next week same time as her DH. Thanks all.
