When your waters break does it come in a gush or trickle every so often??? I think my waters may have broken?!

I don't know but I thought you'd appreciate a response (I was induced). I was told I'd know when it happened if that helps. It'd didn't sound too helpful
sorry

If the hind waters go it can be a trickle and if the other ones go its normally a gush

TheBlonde · 16/03/2007 18:05

Can be either
It'll smell sweet (not like pee)

lemonaid · 16/03/2007 18:06

It depends how they break. Mine were a gush, but you can also get a "slow puncture" sort of trickle. If you go into the maternity unit they can do a swab to check.

lynniep · 16/03/2007 18:06

mine was a trickle and I had no idea it was happening until I went to the loo!

lulumama · 16/03/2007 18:07

if you have a bit of a trickle and feel damp, it is probably the hindwaters , and the leak can reseal and the water replenishes...forewaters tend to go with a gush and do not seal up !! you have 96 hours from SRM to needing indcution according to NICE...

Thanks everyone, was home alone and feeling a little anxious! just got back from the hospital, my husband arrived just as i posted the message. We called the mid wife and she said to put to put a pad on and come in. When we arrived at the hospital i got out the car and had a 'gush'! I wasn't having any contractions, booked in at reception and sat down and over the hour and a half i was sat there it really started to flow, until eventually i had to go to the toilet with a big wet bum and everyone watching. I burst in to tears and sat on the toilet for half an hour amongst other emotions, feeling too humiliated to face all the people in the reception area. 3 hours of sitting in my waters i finally saw the mid wife. Was monitored and sent home, just got back!

It's great that they let you home... they kept me in with just a trickle, and my baby wasn't born for another 29 hours. I just wanted to wish you all the luck in the world
